Chapter 6 FIRST NIGHT IN PARIS

As the plane touched down at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, Nadetta felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She was here on a business trip with her boss, Julian, to meet with potential clients and secure new deals for their company.

Julian, a seasoned executive with a charming smile, stood up and stretched his tall frame as the seatbelt sign went off. "Welcome to Paris, Nadetta! Let's make this trip count."

Nadetta smiled and gathered her belongings, following Julian out of the plane and into the bustling airport. They made their way through customs and immigration, and soon found themselves in a sleek black car, speeding towards their hotel in the heart of the city.

As they drove, Julian briefed Nadetta on their schedule for the next few days. "We have meetings with three potential clients, and I want you to take the lead on the presentations. You've done great work on this project, Nadetta."

Nadetta felt a surge of confidence and thanked Julian for the opportunity. She was determined to make a good impression and help secure new business for their company.

As they arrived at the hotel, Nadetta couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the beautiful city around her. She had always loved Paris, and she was excited to explore it further during their downtime.

As the car pulled up to the hotel, Nadetta gazed out at the beautifully lit facade, the soft glow of the lights casting a warm ambiance. They arrived at the hotel around 10 pm, and the lobby was quiet, with only a few guests milling about.

After checking in, Nadetta and Julian parted ways, agreeing to meet for breakfast the next morning. Nadetta went to her room, dropped off her bags, and freshened up. As she was getting ready for bed, she realized she had forgotten to ask Julian about the schedule for the next day.

She made her way to Julian's room, her heart beating slightly faster as she knocked on the door. The door opened, and Julian stood before her, his hair damp and his face freshly shaved. He was wearing a white towel around his waist, and his chest was bare, revealing his chiseled physique.

Nadetta felt a sudden surge of nervousness, her eyes fixed on Julian's broad shoulders and defined abs. She had never seen him like this before, and she couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked.

"Hey, Nadetta," Julian said, his voice low and smooth. "What brings you here?"

Nadetta swallowed hard, trying to compose herself. "I just wanted to ask about the schedule for tomorrow," she stammered.

Julian smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Come on in," he said, stepping aside to let her in.

As Nadetta entered the room, she couldn't help but notice the way Julian's eyes seemed to sparkle in the dim light. His hair was messy, and his skin was still damp from the shower, giving him a ruggedly handsome look that made her heart skip a beat.

She felt a flutter in her chest as she approached him, trying to focus on the task at hand. But she couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him, and she wondered if she was in over her head.

As Nadetta approached Julian, she couldn't help but notice the way his eyes seemed to bore into her soul. She felt a shiver run down her spine as he smiled at her, his lips curling up in a way that made her heart race.

"Let me just grab the schedule," Julian said, turning to rummage through his briefcase. Nadetta's eyes followed him, taking in the way his towel was slung low on his hips, revealing a tantalizing glimpse of his waist.

As he turned back to her, schedule in hand, Nadetta felt a flush rise to her cheeks. She took the paper from him, trying to focus on the words, but her eyes kept drifting back to Julian's face.

"Thanks," she stammered, trying to sound professional. "I'll make sure to review it."

Julian nodded, his eyes never leaving hers. "Good. I think we have a good chance of landing this deal, Nadetta. You've done great work."

Nadetta felt a surge of pride at his words, but it was quickly overshadowed by the awareness of how close they were standing. She could feel the heat emanating from Julian's body, and her own body was responding in kind.

"Thanks, Julian," she said, trying to step back, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot.

Julian's eyes seemed to gleam with amusement, and he took a step closer to her. "You're welcome, Nadetta," he said, his voice low and husky. "Now, get some rest. We have a big day tomorrow."

Nadetta nodded, still feeling the intensity of his gaze. She turned to leave, but Julian's voice stopped her.

"Nadetta?"

"Yes?" she replied, turning back to him.

Julian's eyes seemed to burn with intensity. "I'm glad you're here with me," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Nadetta's heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze. She didn't know what to say, so she just nodded and turned to leave, her heart racing with anticipation.

As Nadetta closed the door to her room, she couldn't shake off the feeling of Julian's gaze lingering on her skin. She walked over to the window and looked out at the city, her mind replaying the moments they had shared.

She thought about the way Julian's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled, the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck, and the way his voice made her feel like she was the only person in the world.

But as she stood there, lost in thought, Nadetta's mind suddenly shifted to her husband, Denzel. She thought about their life together, their struggles, and their triumphs. She thought about the way Denzel used to make her laugh, the way he used to hold her hand, and the way he used to look at her with love in his eyes.

Nadetta felt a pang of guilt for thinking about Julian the way she did. She was married, after all. She should be thinking about her husband, not her boss. But as she stood there, she couldn't help but wonder what her life would be like if she had met Julian first.

Would she have fallen in love with him? Would she have married him? The thoughts swirled in her head, making her feel dizzy and disoriented.

Nadetta took a deep breath and tried to shake off the thoughts. She needed to focus on her marriage, on making it work. She couldn't let her feelings for Julian get in the way of that. But as she turned away from the window, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't yet imagine.

Nadetta walked over to the bed and sat down, running her hands through her hair. She felt torn, like she was being pulled in two different directions. She thought about Denzel, about their life together, and the promises they had made to each other. But she also couldn't deny the connection she felt with Julian, the way he made her feel alive and seen.

As she sat there, trying to make sense of her emotions, Nadetta's mind started to wander back to the moments she had shared with Julian. She thought about the way he had looked at her, the way he had touched her hand, and the way he had made her feel like she was the only person in the world.

Suddenly, Nadetta's phone buzzed, breaking the spell. She looked down and saw a text from Julian. "Hey, just wanted to check in and make sure you're doing okay. Looking forward to tomorrow."

Nadetta felt a flutter in her chest as she read the message. She shouldn't be feeling this way, she told herself. She should be ignoring him, not encouraging him. But as she looked at the words on the screen, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation.

She typed out a response, trying to sound casual. "Hey, yeah, I'm good. Looking forward to tomorrow too."

As she hit send, Nadetta felt a sense of trepidation. What was she getting herself into? And what did the future hold for her, Julian, and Denzel?
