Alexander's face twisted in a scowl. "What are you talking about, Sophia?" he spat. "Our marriage is fine."
Sophia laughed, a bitter sound. "Fine?" she repeated. "You call this fine? The constant arguing, the possessiveness, the control?"
Alexander took a step closer to her, his eyes blazing with anger. "I love you," he growled. "I'm just trying to protect you."
Sophia shook her head. "No, Alexander. You're trying to own me. And I won't let you."
Alexander's face went white with rage. "How dare you," he hissed. "I've given you everything."
Sophia's voice was steady. "You've given me a prison sentence," she said. "And I'm not going to serve it anymore."
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Alexander standing alone in the room, his anger and shock palpable. Sophia knew she had taken the first step towards freedom, but she also knew it wouldn't be easy. Alexander wouldn't let her go without a fight.
Sophia stood her ground, her heart racing with emotion. "I'm not leaving you, Alexander," she said. "Not yet. But I need you to understand that I will not be controlled, manipulated, or suffocated anymore."
Alexander's expression changed, his anger giving way to a calculating gaze. "What do you want from me, Sophia?" he asked, his voice dripping with condescension.
Sophia took a deep breath. "I want space," she said. "I want freedom to make my own choices, to live my own life. And I want respect."
Alexander snorted. "You're my wife," he said. "You'll do what I say."
Sophia's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm your wife, not your prisoner," she said. "And I won't be treated like one anymore."
The room fell silent, the tension between them palpable. Sophia knew she had drawn a line in the sand, and Alexander would either respect it or try to cross it. She steeled herself for what was to come, knowing that she couldn't back down now.
Alexander's face twisted in a scowl, his eyes narrowing as he took a step closer to Sophia. "You're being dramatic," he sneered. "I'm just trying to protect you."
Sophia stood her ground, her heart racing with fear. "Protect me from what?" she asked, her voice steady.
Alexander's smile was condescending. "From yourself," he said. "You're not capable of making good decisions, Sophia. You need me to guide you."
Sophia felt a surge of anger at his words. "I'm capable of making my own decisions," she said, her voice firm. "And I don't need you to guide me."
Alexander's expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with anger. "We'll see about that," he said, his voice dripping with menace.
Sophia felt a shiver run down her spine as Alexander turned and walked away, leaving her wondering what he would do next. She knew she had to be careful, that she had to protect herself from his wrath. But she also knew she couldn't back down, not now that she had finally found the courage to stand up for herself.
Sophia collapsed onto the couch, her body wracked with sobs. She buried her face in her hands, regret and despair washing over her.
Why had she stayed with him for so long? Why had she let him treat her like this?
She thought back to the beginning of their relationship, when Alexander had been charming and loving. She had been so blinded by her love for him that she had ignored the warning signs.
Now, she saw the truth. Alexander was a master manipulator, using guilt and anger to control her.
Sophia's tears fell harder as she realized she had lost herself in the relationship. She had given up her own desires, her own dreams, to please Alexander.
But now, she saw that she couldn't stay. She couldn't keep living like this.
As she cried, Sophia knew she had to find the strength to leave. She had to find a way to take back control of her own life.
But for now, she just sat there, consumed by her tears, her regret, and her sorrow.
Alexander walked back into the room, his expression calm and collected. But Sophia was having none of it.
"You promised me you would change," she said, her voice shaking with emotion. "You promised me you would work on your anger, on your controlling behavior. But now, here we are again."
Alexander sighed and rubbed his temples. "I have changed, Sophia," he said. "I've been trying really hard. But you're not making it easy for me."
Sophia laughed, a bitter sound. "I'm not making it easy for you?" she repeated. "You're the one who's constantly belittling me, constantly trying to control me. And now, you're blaming me for your own behavior?"
Alexander's expression turned defensive. "I'm just trying to protect you," he said. "I'm just trying to help you."
Sophia shook her head. "No, Alexander. You're not trying to protect me. You're trying to possess me. And I won't let you do it anymore."
Alexander's face darkened, and for a moment, Sophia thought she saw a glimmer of the old Alexander, the one who had hurt her so many times before. But then, his expression changed, and he looked at her with a sad, puppy-like eyes.
"I don't want to lose you, Sophia," he said. "I love you."
