The next morning came too soon for Melissa as she stirred in her sleep and stretched a bit on her bed. "What's today?" She whispered and got out of bed. Just then,a maid walked into her bedroom.
"Good morning miss, the Luna wants you to get ready, have your bath. The makeup artists would be arriving shortly."
"Alright, you may leave." She replied and turned to face the mirror.
"I guess this is my life right now?" She asked herself in a whisper before walking into the bathroom.
As she walked out of the bathroom she met Carlotta standing next to her bed,her hand grazing the fabric of the dress on the bed. "You should come try it on."
"Try it on? Is that what you have to say?" Melissa asked coming to stand in front of her mother. "I expected more from you,not this less__"
"They'll be arriving shortly, start getting dressed, you don't want to provoke your father."
"That's what it's always about huh? My father __"
"Have a care Melissa,we have workers downstairs and they might hear you do not try anything stupid."
"Fine, I'll be the best daughter you want."
"Do you really think pushing on with this wedding is the right thing to do?" Allan asked as the car drove to a stop in front of the huge mansion.
"Of course, that's the only way we are going to get hold of them. And moreover, that's the only way he can pay me for all the things I've been doing for him. He knows what I can do."
"I'm really glad it's just a court wedding, nothing big. We're just going to sign some documents and off I go. It's a peace treaty, so definitely shouldn't be a long occasion."
"Do you know what his daughter looks like? Have you seen her picture or anything?" Allan asked.
"I haven't seen her, but I've heard of her. I've heard she's sometimes bossy, sometimes rude and tough-headed."
"It'll be a really nice match, don't you think? You are tough headed, she's also tough I'm wondering who'll be calm between you both."
They both stepped out of the car, and Allan walked up the porch to press the doorbell.
"Well, she has to calm down. I'm the man in the house and my rules stands."
A maid opened the door with a smile on her face. "You are welcome to Moonlight Park, Alpha, Alden." she said and ushered them in.
"It's a pleasure having you here, Alpha Alden. Thanks for honoring our invitation."Alpha Vanda said, shaking Alpha Alden's hand.
"You're welcome to our park, Alpha, Aldine." Carlotta said.
Alden's eyes danced around the house, his eyes taking in the beautiful artworks on the wall and the good-looking staircase. He wondered where his bride to be was. She should be here, attending to her visitors, not somewhere else, he thought.
"I do not intend to waste my time here. We should get on with the occasion for today. I have other businesses to attend to." He said sternly.
"Of course, of course. Carlotta, get Melissa. She needs to be here right now." Alpha Vanda said.
Carlotta nodded and walked away, heading up the stairs.
"You look pretty miss, really pretty." The makeup artist said, admiring her finished work but the scowl refused to go off Melissa's face.
Just then, the door opened and Carlotta walked in. "The alpha is here. Come on, we need to leave now."she said.
"Do you realize you are selling me off mom? Do you know?" She asked.
"We are not selling you off Melissa. Try to understand your father needs to do this or else our clan will be under attack and we will have nothing, nothing to show for that we were the Alpha and Luna of this clan. You will have nowhere to run to, you will have nowhere to go to. Is that what you want?"
"I really hope your mind, your heart can take this. I just hope you don't die in your sleep mom." With that, she walked out of the room, leaving Carlotta standing there.
"What are you looking at? Take your things and get out! Get out." Carlotta screamed at the make-up artist!
The clicking of the heels drew their attention back towards the stairs as Melissa and Alden's eyes locked together.
Melissa felt the walls closing in on her as her eyes widened.
What is he doing here? She thought within her. Who is he? And why is he in my house? She said within her.
She looked away immediately, and Alpha Alden laughed. "Is she your daughter?" He asked Alpha Vanda.
"Yes, yes, she is, she is. Come on, Melissa. Come on, say your greetings to Alpha Alden. He's one of the prominent Alpha in all of the fifteen clans. The head, to be precise."
"We meet again, intruder. We're doing a nice thing. To think, you'll be my wife in a few minutes."
Vanda looked at Melissa, then looked back at Alden, and kept quiet. He wondered how they knew each other, and what had transpired between them, for alpha Alden to say something like that.
Melissa said nothing but clung to her father's side as she watched Alden father talk to her father.
An hour later, the lawyer stood up and shook hands with Alpha vanda. "With this, I can say they are legally married and both clans can coexist peacefully." he said as Alpha vanda smiled and nodded his head.
"Thanks Alpha Alden. You've done so well for my clan. I do not know how to repay you."
Melissa bit the inner part of her lips, urging herself not to say something harsh and something terrible to her father. How could he thank the Alpha for this? Hell, he even gave out his daughter and have the guts to thank the Alpha. Shouldn't the Alpha be thanking him for getting someone's daughter free?
"Well we'll have to leave now, it's getting late and I've got other businesses to attend to."
"Come on Melissa, you should go with him, it's time to leave." Vanda said as she closed her eyes.
"I hate you dad."
