An ear-piercing scream tore through the dark room as the man tied to the chair sitting in the center of the room cried bitterly from all the torture being thrown at him.
His bloodied face and body were the evidence of the brutality he was facing from Marco. While he looked a total mess, Marco looked calm and collected, nothing like a person who was busily inflicting pain on the other party.
Dante stood behind him, watching with a stoic expression as Marco gave the man the beating of his life. Marco's movements remained elegant and effortless as he inflicted pain on the man who had refused to accept his offer.
The man was unable to bear the pain anymore, so he immediately pleaded in agony. "Wait up you mother fucker!" He yelled as he spat out a mouth full of blood, a few teeth following the blood out. "Figlio di puttana!" He muttered a curse in Italian as he spat out more blood onto the ground.
Marco watched with a smirk as if enjoying the view before him. "So, what now?" He asked the man so casually as if he hadn't just beaten him up. The man glared at him in return, "What the hell do you mean by what now?! You almost killed me just now!" He yelled back, his thick accent coming to light. Marco sighed, "You sound like I never gave you a better option." He probed and leaned back in his seat.
The man breathed in and out, trying to fill his lungs with as much air as possible. "I've told you already! I've never seen his face before!" "And how is this believable?" Dante asked from behind, shaking his head at the man's words. "This is so dumb, you know? You've been working for someone for a very long time and you've never seen his face? So he doesn't trust you?" The man looked down at once, of course, he knew what Double S looked like, but he wasn't about to tell them.
He would rather die than tell them what he looked like. "Fine, so you don't know what he looks like, but do you know anything about him? His eye color, hair color, anything at all?" Dante pressed. The man swallowed and pretended to think it through. He stayed that way for a long time before looking up at them again and giving a prompt nod. "Yes, SS is left-handed," He said, clearly lying to them. Dante raised a brow in shock.
"He is? That's so rare in Reggio but believable." He nodded. The man smiled to himself, seeing that he had managed to fool them. Dante glanced at Marco, waiting for his response to what the man just said to them. But instead of a word from Marco, Marco stood up to his feet, pulled out the pistol from earlier, and fired a shot into the man's forehead, just at the space between his brows.
Dante cursed and turned to Marco at once, "What was that for?!" Marco blew the smoke coming from the gun as he threw the gun directly at a guard standing at the corner. "I expected better from you, Dante. You just let yourself get fooled by that man." He said and walked towards the exit. Dante blinked in surprise, get fooled? How? He followed behind Marco immediately, "What do you mean? Isn't that Double S's right handy?" He questioned. "It was clear as day, that guy isn't Double S's right-hand man, but one of his men.
Also, he has seen Double S's face, and Double S isn't left-handed." He explained. "And how sure are you that he wasn't telling the truth?" Dante was genuinely confused. Marco was such a rare kind of human. He detected things faster than a normal human could. "His eyes were enough to sell him out, Dante. Don't forget to look at those eyes when next you try to abduct someone." He explained and pulled the gloves off, throwing them to the ground and climbing into the car which was already opened for him. Just when he sat on the seats, his phone rang and he glanced down to see it was a call from his father.
He sighed and answered the call unwillingly. "Marco" his father's voice boomed from the other end of the phone. "What is it?" Marco asked directly, not about to exchange any pleasantries whatsoever. "Tell me to get lost instead." His father muttered.
"Alright then, get lost," Marco said and ended the call at once. Dante glanced at his stubborn cousin and shook his head.
Marco's phone rang again and he answered the phone again. "Marco, I need you to come over to the mansion, I need you to see something."
"By this time?" Marco fired back.
"When have you ever cared about time?" His father asked as well. Well, he never really gave a fuck what the time was, but he had a puppy at home right now and the image of her red hair always did a few things to his heart.
He would rather go home and spend his time watching her pretty face than go meet his father at this hour.
"We'll meet up tomorrow." He simply stated. "Marco, it's about your position." Hearing those words, he finally sighed. One thing about him was, that he would never lose a challenge or ever let himself lose a challenge.
And currently, his position was not only at stake but he was challenged by his lowly uncle. He would do anything to shut his nosy uncle up.
"Fine, I'll be there." He said and ended the call in annoyance. "What does he want?" Dante asked him the moment he put his phone away. Being his favorite cousin, he never hid anything from him. They were closer than even his own blood siblings. "Coming over to the mansion to check something out." He replied dryly, "Drive to the main mansion" he added, giving the driver the order and shutting his eyes to rest briefly. "I wonder what he is up to." Dante sighed as well and relaxed on the seats. Halfway to the main mansion, his phone rang again and Marco growled.
Without checking the caller, he answered the phone. "I said I'll be there soon! Are you deaf now?" But the voice that followed after his yelling was totally unexpected. "Sir, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but something has happened back at the mansion." The maid said shakily from the other end. When Marco was mad, he was like an untamed monster and no one would be willing to get closer to him at that time. "What's wrong?" He finally relaxed when he heard his maid's voice. "Sir, it's the miss you brought home." She paused.
Marco jerked up at once, "What happened to her?!" He panicked, even before knowing what really happened. "Sir, uhm... we found her lying limp in her bedroom. But we've called the doctor over and he will be here soon." She narrated.
"Fuck! Drive to the base instead!" He ordered the driver. Dante rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache approaching. He was right about that red hair being a distraction for Marco.
Why was he panicking just because she was found lying unconscious in her bedroom? Yes, he heard every word the maid said since Marco left his phone on the loudspeaker during the call. The red hair was a bad influence and would be a big problem on Marco's part.
Dante made a mental note to speak to Marco about her and to know for how long he planned on leaving her at the base.
No matter what, she wouldn't stay long around Marco, he would make sure of that and go through whatever measures to make sure of it, whether he liked it or not.
