Chapter 4 Please Consider Giving Me This Opportunity

Seeing Julian's firm stance, Baylee was aware that he had the capability to act on his threat and realized she had no choice but to concede and walk away.

Once she exited the private room, Aidan approached her immediately, his concern palpable. "Baylee, how's it going? Were you able to secure the deal?"

With a defeated shake of her head, Baylee admitted, "Sorry. I couldn't persuade him. What's our next move?"

A flicker of frustration crossed Aidan's face before he steadied himself, placing his hands on Baylee's shoulders. "We can't let this be the end! If you let the opportunity to work with Julian slip away now, our company may not survive."

Baylee eyed Aidan warily. "Why do you say that?"

Their business, Star Company, was financially stable with a solid cash flow; it shouldn't be teetering on the brink of collapse without this deal.

As Baylee searched Aidan's expression for truth, she felt a growing unease. "I need the truth," she insisted.

Aidan hesitated, his gaze shifting away. "Well... The truth is, some of my recent ventures didn't pan out, putting our company's finances at risk. This deal with Julian could have been our lifeline."

Baylee was taken aback, hearing of their precarious situation for the first time.

"Can you try once more, for the sake of our company?" Aidan asked, his eyes pleading.

Baylee nodded firmly without a moment's pause. "I'll find a solution."

Their friendship spanned years, and Baylee would never turn down Aidan's plea, crisis or no crisis.

Securing this deal could mean the difference between prosperity and ruin.

With renewed resolve, Baylee pulled out her phone, scrolling through her contacts.

She was determined to secure a second meeting with Julian, convinced that among her numerous connections, there must be someone who could set them up.

Baylee's eyes lit up when she stumbled upon a certain contact.

A plan began to form in her mind.

Her smile, however, was short-lived, lasting merely a moment before a new message diverted her attention.

It was from Julian's divorce lawyer, Cormac, informing her of Julian's decision to have him handle their divorce proceedings.

"Hello, Ms. Morrison, this is Cormac Scott, Mr. Lewis's legal representative. He wishes to proceed with a divorce, and I've been authorized to handle this matter on his behalf. Please arrange a meeting at your earliest convenience."

Her initial excitement turned to annoyance and worry.

After a moment's thought, Baylee responded, "Currently, I'm tied up with significant commitments. Let's delay the divorce discussion for now. I will schedule a meeting when possible."

Having sent her reply, Baylee felt a surge of frustration, massaging her temples.

She pondered how she would address this misunderstanding when she eventually encountered Julian as his wife.

The following day, Julian was seated at the Noble Steeds Equestrian Club's VIP box.

He observed as Malcolm Greville made his entrance, greeting him with a simple, "Afternoon."

The Lewises and the Grevilles had maintained a close relationship for years, and Malcolm, the Grevilles' sole heir, was one of Julian's few true friends.

Julian's presence at the club's anniversary event was by Malcolm's invitation, as the club was a venture owned by the Greville family.

"Apologies for the delay. Just finalized a purchase," Malcolm explained, settling into his seat with a relaxed posture. "So, have you found anyone capable of organizing the Blue Capital's charity gala?"

"Not yet," Julian answered, his focus elsewhere, showing a hint of impatience despite Malcolm's relaxed attitude. "The proposals from the PR Department are lackluster, and the candidates they've presented fall short. Despite a generous budget of fifty million, securing a competent event planner remains elusive."

With Christmas on the horizon and the gala planner still undecided, Julian's concern grew.

The charity gala was Blue Capital's highlight of the year, attracting celebrities and influential figures from diverse fields.

A successful gala would not only elevate Blue Capital's prestige but could also pave the way for lucrative business opportunities in the next year.

However, a failure could lead to a loss of investor confidence, making the gala's successful execution critical for Blue Capital's future.

Observing Julian's concern, Malcolm offered a suggestion with a confident smile. "I know someone perfect for the job. She organized today's event. Impressed?"

"Yeah." Julian, observing the vibrant decorations and noting the involvement of the esteemed Bity brand as a sponsor, expressed his approval. "Did you allocate a large budget for this?"

"Not at all," Malcolm responded, his smile unwavering as he gestured with a finger.

"Ten million?" Julian guessed, acknowledging that the event's quality seemed to justify such an expenditure.

To Julian's astonishment, Malcolm corrected him with a figure that left him incredulous. "Just one million."

The revelation stunned Julian. An event of this caliber on such a modest budget?

"Who is she?" Julian's interest was piqued. "I'd like to meet her."

Malcolm had anticipated this moment and, with a pleased smile, revealed, "Her name is Sia."

The name caught Julian off guard, stirring a sense of irony. It was the same name as the woman he knew.

"She's garnered quite a reputation among small and medium enterprises. Her adept handling of our expansive project on her first attempt was unexpected," Malcolm remarked.

He gestured for the waiter to hand over a document to Julian, smiling, "Here's her profile. Interested in taking a look?"

Julian hesitated briefly before accepting the document, his attention immediately drawn to the photograph on it.

The image captured a professionally dressed woman, her makeup subtly enhancing her natural features, her smile genuine and professional.

To Julian's astonishment, it was the same Sia he was acquainted with.

He was impressed by her evident skill in event planning, but remained skeptical due to their past interactions.

Her personal life seemed too chaotic, potentially complicating any professional collaboration.

After a moment's thought, Julian expressed his doubts. "I don't think she's the right fit."

Before he could elaborate, the VIP room's door opened, and a poised figure entered.

"Mr. Lewis," Baylee greeted, bowing slightly. "I ask you to consider giving me this opportunity."
