Olivia's intention was to cook earlier this evening after delivering the package, but everything didn't go according to plan.
"Maybe it's better if I eat out?" muttered Olivia, pondering a solution to the small problem she faced.
"It seems okay this time if I eat at a restaurant," Olivia murmured before making a firm decision not to go straight home but to stop by one of the restaurants first.
And this time, Olivia feels like eating at a restaurant different from usual; she wants to dine at a place she hasn't visited before. Now, she's driving slowly while looking at maps to find a dining place recommended by people.
"This place seems nice, it's bustling, but if it's crowded, it feels so lazy to wait in line because I'm already hungry," Olivia muttered, continuing her monologue while staring at her phone screen and occasionally looking at the streets.
"Oh well, let's just find somewhere regular so I won't have to wait long," Olivia decided before determining a suitable place to eat tonight.
After finding one, she immediately sped up her car. According to the maps, the distance from here to Olivia's chosen restaurant is about five minutes away. Not long, and that's what Olivia was looking for to satisfy her hunger quickly.
Arriving at the restaurant, Olivia quickly parked her car in the designated parking provided by the restaurant. From the outside, the restaurant seemed quite luxurious and expensive, which made Olivia check her wallet first to ensure she had enough cash because she didn't bring her ATM card.
Not wanting to overthink, Olivia quickly entered the restaurant, scanning her gaze around to find an empty seat. Olivia was surprised to find quite a few customers or buyers inside the restaurant.
Olivia was surprised that a regular restaurant that wasn't too viral turned out to be very busy. Olivia became confused about where to sit because many tables were already occupied.
"Oh, there's a vacant one over there," thought Olivia when her eyes caught sight of an empty table not far from her. She felt a little embarrassed for standing too long amidst the crowd of people enjoying their food there.
"Hey! Oliv!"
But Olivia's steps halted when suddenly she heard someone calling her name, a voice that sounded familiar to Olivia, who was slightly surprised.
She was startled when she looked towards the source of the voice; it turned out that the one calling her was her close friend aside from Yolande.
"Higana!" exclaimed Olivia, mentioning her friend's name with a surprised tone. Her expression couldn't hide her surprise anymore.
"Why are you here?" Olivia asked, completely surprised to be meeting her close friend in this restaurant. They didn't plan to meet, and their last exchange of messages was yesterday.
"Well, why not? This is a public place, Oliv," replied the woman named Higana with annoyance, perhaps unable to comprehend Olivia's out-of-the-blue question.
Higana is a half-Japanese woman who has been Olivia's friend since high school. They met because they were in the same class and have remained close friends until now. Even though Olivia has become a teacher and Higana has become a doctor, they still remain good friends and continue to exchange messages.
Olivia grinned broadly while scratching one of her cheeks that wasn't itchy. Her gaze then shifted to the man who was with Higana. Olivia just realized it.
Olivia's gaze instantly changed when she looked back at Higana, her eyes questioning who the man with Higana was.
Higana, seemingly very perceptive, immediately smiled sweetly. But she still didn't answer, which made Olivia slightly annoyed.
"You're mean, you already have a boyfriend but never told me," said Olivia, making Higana grin broadly. Meanwhile, the man next to Higana looked like he was smiling faintly while looking at Higana.
"Sorry, Oliv, I was going to tell you at the right time, but fate decided to bring us together while I was having dinner," replied Higana, putting on a face as if she were innocent.
Olivia snorted. "Your excuse, just say you didn't want to tell me," she replied with a slightly cynical look. Trust me, that's just Olivia's act.
"Believe me, Oliv, I didn't mean it like that, I'm serious," Higana said, trying to convince Olivia, who didn't believe what she was saying.
"Is that really true?" Olivia asked again, with one eyebrow raised.
Higana immediately nodded reassuringly. "Yes, Oliv, I'm serious," she replied, slightly annoyed with Olivia not believing her.
"Hmm." Olivia just cleared her throat shortly and nodded briefly.
After that, Olivia was about to ask for permission to go to an empty table, but she was stopped by Higana, who spoke up again.
"Hey, where are you going? It's better if you join us here, Oliv, later I'll tell you how we ended up like this," Higana said with an enticing offer for Olivia because Olivia was very curious about how Higana, who rarely seemed close to any man, suddenly had a boyfriend. But unfortunately, for now, Olivia was not tempted because she was embarrassed herself by Higana's boyfriend, and she also didn't want to be a third wheel disrupting their togetherness.
"Not for now, Higana, I'm afraid I'll disturb your time," Olivia replied with a faint smile before she bid farewell to Higana because she was afraid Higana would insist more on her joining them and Higana's boyfriend.
"Well, Oliv, are you really not going to join us here?" Higana asked again, immediately met with a shake of the head from Olivia before she really left from in front of Higana and Higana's boyfriend who had been silent all this time.
Seeing Olivia leaving towards an empty table made Higana sigh disappointedly; she really wanted Olivia to join her, but unfortunately, her friend chose to sit alone.
"It's okay, dear, maybe she just wants to sit alone and doesn't want to disturb us," Higana's boyfriend said, comforting her while gently rubbing her shoulder.
Meanwhile, Higana shook her head slightly. "But she's not bothering us at all, is she?" she replied, asking for his opinion.
"Well, she could be bothering us, dear, because tonight is special for our dinner together," Higana's boyfriend said, immediately making Higana give a small pinch to his waist.
"It's up to you!" Higana snapped.
Meanwhile, at another table, Olivia was sitting alone, waiting for the food to come after ordering it from one of the waiters there.
"Lucky I could escape from Higana; otherwise, I might be embarrassed now for being a third wheel at their table," Olivia muttered, sighing softly.
