Chapter 1 THE BODYGUARD

THE BODYGUARD

Sophia was accompanied with a flock of bodyguards as she stepped into one of her many manions. Her heels clicked on the floor as she walked.

Each floor she passed by, her servants inclined their heads in a bow. She walked into her bedroom. Leaving the flock of bodyguards outside.

An attempt has been made on her life by her rivals. She's the richest woman in the county at the age of twenty seven. So, it was actually part of her routine.

She sat on her bed as her maid servant attended to her. The maid went on to get the heels from her leg. Giving her the relief she wanted.

Taking a deep breath she relaxed her head backwards. Allowing the maid run her smooth hands on her legs.

" You guys are incompetent." The loud voice came from outside her door.

Marco her legal guardian shouted at the flock of bodyguards.

" You are all lucky nothing happened to her." His voice came again.

Sophia said nothing. This wasn't the first time an attempt has been made on her life. As a matter of fact she has gotten so used to it that she saw it as nothing.

Marco was just making a fuss over nothing. She ain't bothered about it.

Her door burst open and Marco a 6ft tall bulky man with his short dark curly hair. His blue eyes searched her body for an injury.

" I am fine Marco." She said. Without staring him a glance. Her eyes still closed.

Marco watched the rise and fall of her shoulders which indicated she was in deep thoughts. Staring at her he knows the attempt made on her life was nothing compared to the incident 3 years ago.

Stepping closer to her he sat beside her bed. Eyes still closed she placed her head on his shoulders.

Marco is the only person she trusts. After the death of her parents. Marco has been there for her and with her.

Smoothing her hair with his hands he watched as the tension leaves her body slowly.

" Leave us." He commanded the maid.

In a space of a second the maid packed up and left their presence giving them the space they needed.

" It is alright sweetie. You are alright." He kept saying. As his hands went about her hair.

Sophia said nothing. Her silence meant she heard every word he's saying.

She wasn't a silent person. No! As a matter of fact she could talk and talk till the devil decides to forgive who offended him.

But, it all changed when her parents died and her virginity was taken away by a guy in a mask.

She became the coldest woman ever. She fired all her male servants. Her bodyguards were Marco's suggestion. Because, of the attempts been made on her life on daily basis.

She withdraw her head from his shoulders and opened her eyes. Staring at him with those green eyes.

" I am fine Marco. Really."

She stood up from the bed and went over her dressing room. She wants out of this clothes. They itch.

" I am getting you a new bodyguard." He finally announced.

Silence met his words. He knows she heard him. And she is thinking about it. Her safety has always been his top priority.

And if it means hiring the entire men in the world. Then! He would.

" It is your choice Marco."

She came out from the dressing room. With nothing more than a casual wear. A short and a white top with a slippers to match her top.

Marco's jaw dropped. No matter how often he sees her. He would never get pass her beauty.

He has been in this family for as long as he could remember. His father was her father's personal advisor.

They both used to play when they were kids. So, their relationship isn't something new.

Sophia has always seen him as a big brother. A brother she never had. And when her parents died he has been the one person that calms all her demons.

Sitting on the bed she took out her laptop throwing all her attention on the screen.

" I will have a maid bring in your dinner." He said. As he got up from the bed.

Placing a feather like kiss on her head he walked out of the door.

A man sitting behind a desk with his eyes fixed on his computer screen was seen focused.

He shouldn't be more than 40 years of age. He is the leader of the agency called. ' PROTECTORS' they are the ones you call when a situation seems impossible.

They are in charge of making sure you are save and until the threat on your life has been eliminated. They are the best among the best.

And their services comes with a handsome amount of payments. They have only one rule.

' NEVER FALL FOR A MARK ' they have kept to this rules for ages.

His attention was draw away from his computer when his phone rang.

" Hello." He spoke into the phone.

" Hi. I am I speaking with Avram?"

" Yes. To whom am I on to?" He asked.

" My name is Marco and I would like your services. An attempt has been made on the life of someone I hold dear."

" Is this person a relative?" He asked.

" Yes. And she is also my boss."

" Oh! A woman?"

" Yes. May I know your fee?"

" Terms of our fee can only be discussed when we get to meet. So I will ask my secretary to set an appointment for later."

" Done."

The call ended as he dropped his phone back to it's position.

" Nadia." He called.

Seconds later the door opened and a woman walked in.

" Set an appointment for Mr Marco."

" Yes sir."

FEW DAYS LATER

Marco sat directly opposite Avram. He has come highly recommend. He has heard so much of his agency and if anyone could protect her then he believes one or all of his agents could.

" So, Mr Marco. Have you gone through the terms of our arrangement?" He asked.

Nadia his secretary had sent over the files via his email. So, he has done the needful to glance through them.

" Yes I have." Marco answered.

" Good. Now! A part payment would be given to the agent signed to your protectee. And when the threat has been taken care off. The other part of the payment would be made to our agency."

Nodding his head he understood everything.

" Now, I only have one request. I want the best of the best."

" Then, Mr Marco you have come to the right place. Here! We give nothing but the best."

" Good!"

" Leonard" He called. Speaking into the land phone in his office.

The moment Leonard walked in Marco went cold all of a sudden. If he doesn't know better he would say the devil was standing a few feets from him.

Not that the male was ugly. Oh no! Far from it. His presence alone sent shivers down his spine.

His presence commanded nothing but power. He has been standing for the past few minutes. But, if felt like forever. Marco wanted nothing but to disappear from this place.

This man is like an unmovable wall. He wasn't wearing a smile on his face. As a matter of face his face gave no expression whatsoever. And it scares the hell of Marco.

He may have requested for the best. But, not someone like this.

" Mr Marco meet Leonard. One of the best." Avram made the introductions.

Marco wanted to stretch his hands for a shake. But, seeing this man's face he had to think twice about it. He just nodded his head.

" Here you go." Mr Avram handed the file containing the details of his protectee.

Taking the file from him. He held it without looking at it.

" That is all for now."
