Chapter 7 Who allowed you to quit

We got to the Estate in one piece but the car was out of fuel. I enjoyed the car ride, it was the best. It was so relaxing and yet, terrifying.

I watched as Oscar came out of the car with weak legs, did I scare him that much?

"Boss, are you okay?" I asked feeling guilty and he shot me with a killer glare, one that screamed 'do I look okay to you?' "Let me help you up!" Though I wasn't as tall as him, I could still support him.

I helped him into the house and found it unusually empty. Didn't rich people have maids and guards at their beck and call? Why did it look so different from what we all know?

I found my way into the huge living room and my eyes sparkled. Everything looked so huge and expensive.

There were chandeliers hanging from the ceiling in a long row. The walls were painted white but even that, seemed to be luxurious. I looked at the chairs and so badly wanted to bounce on them, what a sight?

I dropped Oscar on a sofa and tried to find the kitchen. My eyes admired everything I saw. It all looked so expensive.

'if I sold even a single plate, I bet I could buy a house!' I thought as I fantasized about becoming rich but quickly snapped out of it.

I got a glass of water and went back to the living room without touching anything else.

"Here you go, sir!" I handed it to him. He took the water but didn't drink it.

"Where did you learn to drive like that?" He asked. What, was I that suspicious?

"Well, I was a race car driver once but not an actual racer. I mean, we raced without license." I admitted and as soon as I realized what I said, my eyes widened.

He wasn't gonna call the cops on me, right?

"Do you know one mistake could've killed us?" He asked which relived me.

"I was careful though." I said

"You call that being careful?" He dropped the glass of water on a stool at the side. I fell silent.

He was right, I did act reckless and one slight mistake could've killed us both. I bit my bottom lip finding this guilty feeling awful.

I didn't want to stand there and hear him scold me. He was just a guy that hired me, I wasn't indepted to him or anything of that sort, it wasn't my job to care.

Just as long as I got him home safely, then there was no need hearing all that. Sure I was reckless.

That's the way I've always been and it helped me survive in this cruel world. Why did I have to feel guilty for being reckless?

"I got you through, didn't I? If you think I acted reckless then, I don't care! As long as you and I are in one piece, I don't mind. If you don't like my driving then I quit." I made my resolve without much thinking. Who needed a job that only brought about guilt? "You don't have to pay me your stinking money and I won't bother about it either but, if you plan on killing me to keep my mouth sealed about this while ordeal then... you'll have to catch me first." I yelled and charged towards the door with no thought of taking back my words. All that guilt had turned into bitter rage in just a few seconds.

'To hell with his money, I don't want this shitty job anyway'

"Stop right there!" Oscar ordered and I cou

ld've sworn, his voice echoed. I stopped on my tracks like I was a robot being controlled by a remote and turned.

As soon as I turned, I met eyes with Oscar, who was already standing a few inches away from me. That was fast!

In a situation like this, I couldn't help but analyze the structure of his face. His eyebrows looked like there were carved into perfection the day he was born, his eyelashes coupled with his eyes, God, how could they be so sexy?

My cheeks started burning up and my heart ponded heavily against my ribcage. My whole body tensed up again. Why did I have these annoying feelings? It made me feel like a pervert.

I quickly looked away and took a deep breathe before turning to look at him once more. I was shocked to see that his, once darkened expression, now looked grateful.

"Who allowed you to quit?" He said and my eyebrows furrowed. What did he mean by that? "Did I say I was unsatisfied with your service?"

"You..." I looked at him confused.

"Furthermore," he leaned his head closer. I guess he wanted to intimidate me with his tall structure but sadly, it wasn't working. "...we both didn't get out in one piece!" He said

"Uh?" He stretched his hand and took hold of mine. He took off my glove and examined my hand closely.
