Chapter 6 No.6

"Good evening, good evening," Chandler said as he passed up each person's desk.

He anticipated the evenings Erin was to show up. He would stay busy at his desk and computer examining and working on the fancy headphone set that had come in for his team.

"Boy, this sure is nice."

Chandler was so focused on reading the operating instructions for the new equipment that he didn't realize someone was approaching his desk when he glanced up and saw a pair of black five-inch stiletto pumps advancing toward his desk.

Chandler slowly raised his eyes from the computer screen, taking every inch of her. Her hips swayed as she strolled toward him, wearing a black calf-length fitted pencil skirt that showed her hips with a short-waisted jacket and a silk low-cut purple blouse that exposed a hefty amount of cleavage.

A lump developed in his throat at the sight of the beautiful girl; his mouth moistened as she leaned on his desk. It made him swallow hard.

When his eyes reached her face, the pen fell from the grips of his fingers onto the desk.

"Uhmm......good evening, Erin."

All he could think in his head was could she hear him? He couldn't listen to himself speak, for his heart was beating so fast and loud. But he knew his mouth had moved because she responded.

Smiling and speaking clearly and softly, she said. "Good evening, I'm here.'

When he stood and gazed down into her large almond-shaped eyes with those long lashes, Chandler didn't remember her eyelashes being so beautiful. He wondered if they were real. "Uhmm Erin, are you...?" He paused as he noticed her breast spilling out of the silk blouse she wore.

She smiled, "Yes, Chandler." She glanced down at her breasts and then flicked them up at him with direct eye contact.

"Never mind.......I'm ready," Chandler said, moving his eyes away from her breast and back to her lovely face.

"So, are you ready to get started this evening?"

Clearing his throat, he replied. "Yes, I'm ready."

Her voice chirped, sounding like a songbird to him. "Let's get started."

Erin escorted him over to the conference room. She noticed how nice and tall he looked, dressed up as time passed. It was like the country boy had become a businessman. But, of course, it made Chandler even more handsome and harder to resist in dressy attire.

Despite her nervousness, she did remember to offer him a cup of coffee, to which he generously agreed. After bringing him a cup of coffee, Erin begins a new training phase with new duties each week.

"You know Ken is very friendly but very competitive." She stated, with her eyes looking extremely serious.

"So that means I'm going to be busy being competitive too?" Chandler replied, smiling with a glint of amusement in his eyes.

Erin smiled, feeling a lump in her throat, unsure how to respond to that question. But instead, she just stood there and became more captivated as Chandler ran his fingers through his dark hair.

"If competitive is what I need to be. I can get my competitive juices flowing." He said, almost seductively.

All Erin knew was that she broke out into a full sweat; she could feel little beads on her forehead and temples. She knew right then and there that he had become a different man.

She showed him a few more preliminary things he would have to do with assisting customers calling the office for assistance. Then flirting, she smiled, tucking her hair behind her ear, and said.

"Well, I think that would be all for now. You seem to grasp this stuff quickly. I had no idea you were so flexible, Chandler."

"There's a lot you don't know about me, Erin."

"I see that," Erin says, sashaying out of the conference room and heading to her desk.

Chandler vociferates. "Erin, if I need help with anything. I can ask for your assistance, right?"

"Oh yes, anytime!" She said, winking with a big smile as she partially turned back in his direction, wanting to give him direct eye contact again.

That was the most extended evening ever. That whole evening was torture. She could not focus on her work; the intense attraction constantly made her stare in his direction.

Erin kept having disagreements with herself about Chandler. She has never wanted a guy like him. They were like night and day.

Men had become her recreational enjoyment. But since Chandler seemed not even to notice Erin, making it read him made her even more drawn to him. When she knew she should be because they were so different.

No matter what she was working on for that evening, whether it was essential or not, she found herself distracted every time Chandler would get up to walk; her eyes followed him.

Erin tried not to be noticeable, but she couldn't help it. When he returned from Ken's office, he had a massive stack of papers to copy. Chandler was xeroxing for about 10 minutes, whistling happily.

She watched him the whole time with the same blank sheet of paper in her hand. Erin lost so much time from her work, staring, gazing, and being mesmerized by his muscular toned body and handsome boyish face.

Erin stated to herself. "This day has been a mess. But, no, he's making it a lot for me.

When nine o'clock came, Chandler finally entered the groove of operating the new equipment. But it was time to end the night. Chandler glanced over at Erin's desk and realized she wasn't there. He looked around, and he didn't see her.

He asked himself. "Did I get that engrossed in work until I didn't recognize her leaving for the day?"

Chandler knew how much it mattered that he paid attention to this girl. So was she gone or not? He had his reason, and he needed to know. 'The only other place she could be is in the break room.'

He got up from his desk and opened the door to the break room. Just as he reached out, she pushed the door open with only a little bit of free space for her to pass.

She said surprisingly as she found him standing there. "Who are you looking for, Chandler?"

Chandler was also surprised, especially at how she looked at him. It was so sensual. It was as if she wasn't hiding anything. Chandler could feel she wanted him.

His heart and mind began arranging everything he would have to do to make a woman like her a part of his life. 'Calm down now, Chandler." He told himself. "Is she the right girl for marriage?' He asked himself.

"Uhm.....I'm looking for no one." He said in an unsure tone.

With narrow slits in her eyes and a cute smile, she said.

"Are you sure? I could've sworn you were searching for someone. Alright then, If not, can I please pass?"

"Sure..........sure."

He said, pressing his back tightly against the door frame. He could smell her sweet perfume as she passed him up. Chandler smiled, inhaling her fragrance. He grew up as a boy with a strong sense of smell. His mother loved flowers and would always get him to tell her what each flower smelled. And right now, the scent; she smelled like was of sweet, sweet candy.

He opened his eyes and looked around, realizing he was still standing against the break room door as his other co-workers passed him up, shaking their heads at him.

"What is wrong with me? Why am I like this?" So he thought as he moved along, heading back to his desk.

Even though it was time to go home for the night, Chandler stayed in the office until she left first. He wasn't sure how to approach her with his interest since it wasn't simply to date this girl. So he let her leave out the building first, feeling that would be best.

"Goodnight, Chandler. See you tomorrow." She said, waving and smiling at him.

"Goodnight, Erin." He said, gazing at her until she was entirely out of his view.

Erin walked to the parking garage next door to the building. While walking along, she thinks of the young man back at the office. It made her laugh, reflecting on his enticing demeanor but yet reserved. He would be all over her if it were any other guy. But, instead, Chandler was adorable and shy.

On the other hand, Chandler kept thinking about what an awful impression he must be making. All he knew was that Erin was the beautiful girl he desired, and he needed to do something with this desire. So he wondered why he was feeling hesitant. Especially since the clock is ticking and he needs to find a girl soon before it's too late.

He spent a few weeks watching her with glances, and she indicated she was watching him too.

Chandler knew from the times they'd had dinner together and all the small gestures she was interested in him.

"So Yes! Yes! I'll be making my move tomorrow to ask her for a nice dinner and explain why I'm here and feel she is the girl for me."

The next evening they were working, Ken decided to have Chandler work with the installers of the new equipment. He ended up missing several opportunities to ask her to work overtime. Each time he got up the nerve to ask her out. Ken either called a meeting or gave Chandler a particular assignment to fulfill. Finally, he saw his opportunity, and he was going to take it this evening!
