I really thought I could get there in time and retrieve it. I forgot that that could only happen in fictional books and here was the real world.

What surprised me more was how fast the contents of the journal spread.

At the first page, my name was boldly printed on it so there was no way they couldn't have known it was me.

After reading my English textbook and successfully competing the updated edition, I stuffed everything in my bag. I would wait for the other students to arrive before reading again.

Dropping my head on the table, I dozed off. I couldn't tell how long I slept but I woke up the moment I felt someone run a hand against my back.

I shuddered sitting up immediately. I flinched a little seeing two guys pierce there eyes on me with a cold gaze.

"What are you doing here all alone, girl? Waiting for someone?" The guy directly behind me whom I presumed touched me earlier said in a hazy voice.

The room was dark but some light reflected in from the security lights outside making it dim enough to see their stature.

"No, I'm here for night class." I replied giving him the 'are you dumb' look.

"There's no night class today, missy. Everyone is at a camp fire party next to the beach." The other guy replied taking off his jacket.

"What are you doing? It's cold." I pointed out resting a hand on my bag.

I couldn't care less about the party because I didn't attend them even though I get invited.

But to imagine so many people ditching night class so they could go chill with alcohol and dance around dangerous fire.

I shrugged and stood up from the chair.

"Thanks for telling me. I will leave now." I said controlling myself to stand steady because I had been sitting on that chair for more than five hours and what it does to the body is tiring.

Unfortunately, I dizzily set back and the guy behind caught me in a swift move holding me tightly by my waist. I got my balance and gently pushed him off me.

"I'm good, now." I muttered, mortified.

"You are Tate, right? We've heard about you." The other guy spoke in a deep voice.

"I know you have. If you'll excuse me, I will be on my way now." I uttered.

"Do you really want to leave?" He asked looking straight at me and I could barely make out his face.

"Yes, I do!"

Why won't I want to leave? They are strangers and I am just not in the mood to be robbed tonight. I have had a terrible month already.

Or maybe I should just make the robbery easier for them.

I brought out my wallet and handed him a bundle of cash.

"Now, stay away." I said with a scowl.

He forced it back in to my hand and scoffed.

"I see you are so willing to give us what we want.." He drawled.

He was standing really close to me in a flash and turned me around. He pushed me towards the wall and placed my palm flat on it.
