Chapter 5 THE WOMAN WHO LOOKS LIKE MY WIFE

Voltaire's POV

"George, would you believe me if I tell you that I met a woman last week who looks exactly like Melissa?"

George turned his gaze at me with wide eyes. "S-Sir?"

"I'm not kidding, George. Her name was... Paula, I think, that's what I can remember." I leaned on my swivel chair while remembering how she looked when I met her at the bar.

"They really look the same, the eyes, nose, lips, the shape of the face, well, except the hair, Melissa has blonde long hair that already reached her waist while that woman has a shorter one above her shoulders. And also, she doesn't have a mole under her right eye."

"Could it be that Miss Melissa has a twin sister, Sir?" George said.

I shook my head. "That's so impossible, George. Melissa never mentioned that she has a twin sister."

"Then that woman just looks like her even though they are not really related?"

"Yeah, that's what I think so."

The moment that I saw her at the bar, I immediately thought that she was Melissa. She was dancing in the middle of the dance floor, which Melissa would never do. But she was beautiful.

She was so beautiful especially when she kissed me back; I felt Melissa's lips, I felt Melissa's warmth...

I missed that every morning I woke up lying beside this exquisitely beautiful woman who's the love of my whole life. A perfectly v-shaped face, small nose, and plump pinkish lips that I always wanted to kiss. She was snoring cutely, with her mouth slightly opened. How can she even manage to be so beautiful while just merely sleeping?

This little woman started to move and hugged me. She can't really sleep without even hugging something. Such a clingy koala. My beautiful koala.

Charlotte and Cedric are our twins. They are already five years old and they really made our life happier. Those mornings, I spend at least half hour on coaxing these two little ones, playing with them and telling interesting dream-stories to them.

Sometimes they have to be bribed with small snacks or gifts too, so that their sleepyhead mummy can get some more rest. My sleeping beauty always work until very night as she's a well-known fashion designer in the country and also my proud.

"Sir, you have a meeting with Mrs. Foster at eight." George snapped which stopped me from reminiscing.

I stood up fixing my tie. "Right, let's meet him now."

"Okay, Sir."

I was about to walk out of my office when my phone suddenly rang. I raised my right hand to signal George to wait for me for a moment before answering the call. "Hello?"

"Sir! Sir Voltaire!"

"Hannah?" It was my kids' nanny.

"S-Sir! Cedric's in a fight right now while Charlotte is crying! You need to here, Sir! Oh my God!"

"W-What?! O-Okay! I'll go there just wait for me, okay?"

"Y-Yes Sir! Charlotte-

I already hanged up the phone and looked at George. "George, cancel my meeting with Mrs. Foster. I need to go to my children's school."

"I understand, Sir."

I took my car keys and rushed myself out of the company building.

Since Melissa gone missing, my children changed their attitude too. They became grumpier; they are always getting involved in fights especially Cedric.

I often cancel my meetings just to go to their school and stop them. I can't blame them anyway. I know how hard it is for them to adjust and accept the fact that they no longer have their mother on their side. And because of that, I realized how important Melissa is.

"Mr. Farusco, this is the third time that your son got involved in a fight. I understand his situation because they just lost their mother but please, Mr. Farusco. Help them understand that they just can't pick up a fight here in their school. Our school would give a bad impression if this keeps on going." said the principal.

"I understand. And I am really sorry for what my son has done. Maybe he's still suffering from loneliness or maybe he just misses his mother so much. Don't worry, I'll talk to him. This will never happen again."

We both stood up and shake each other's hands. "Thank you, Mr. Farusco. You may take your kids home for now."

"Thank you."

I found my son in the empty classroom. He's sitting there without any move or any emotion. It could see there were some some scratches on his arms and forehead. I didn't say a word but to took him and his sister home.

"Now Cedric, explain yourself. Why did you pick up a fight with your classmate? This is the third time that you got involved in that kind of fight."

The two children were sitting on a couch across from my desk inside my office in our house. George was lowering his head while Charlotte was playing with her fingers, sitting next to her brother. "Speak, Cedric!" I yelled which surprised both of them.

"Daddy... it's not Cedric's fault... Kenneth mocked me and told me that I'm an abandoned child. That we no longer have our mommy... then Cedric got mad and punched him. He just tried to save me from Kenneth, Daddy... It was not his fault..." said Charlotte my little daughter.

"But still, it's not right to pick up a fight. You should've just told your teacher about it."

"Our teacher won't do anything about that though. She'll just tell us the same and Kenneth would still bully Charlotte." Cedric finally spoke.

I looked at him. "And so, you will just keep on picking up a fight with him? Is that what you're trying to say, huh?"

"If mommy is here, for sure she'll never treat us like this..." Cedric mumbled.

"Look, Cedric, Charlotte, mommy is not here, okay? Mommy is no longer here. That's why you need to behave properly so that when she finally comes back, she won't be mad at you."

"You keep on saying that mommy would still come back but she never did. Maybe mommy doesn't love us anymore that's why she doesn't want to go back anymore..." Charlotte said.

I stood up. "That's not true, Charlotte. Mommy loves us so much and she would come back."

"Then when?! We are tired of waiting! I want her to come back already!" Cedric yelled.

"Cedric! Why are you talking to me like that?! Do you want me to punish you?!"

He started to cry and so his sister. "I really hate you, daddy... You always yell at us... you always scold us even when it's not our fault... If only mommy is here, for sure she'll save us..."

"I hate you too, daddy!!" Charlotte yelled then they both ran outside.

"H-Hey Charlotte! Cedric! Go back here!"

But the two didn't listen to me anymore. I heaved a sigh as I sat on my swivel chair again while massaging my temple. I stared at my wife's photo above my desk. "Melissa... what should I do? They are not listening to me anymore..."

Then I remembered the woman that I met last week.

I reached for my phone and dialed George's number. "George."

"Sir?"

"Look for her."

"S-Sir?"

"That woman that I met at the bar. I want you to search for her. Know everything about her, her age, her family background, everything. Then tell her to meet me."

"Yes. I-I understand, Sir."
