Chapter 7 The best hot chocolate

Addison followed Alex into the little cafe which according to him served the "best hot chocolates". She didn't know what she was doing here, but hey, anything was better than doing Calculus. Or that's what she at least told herself.

" Do you want anything else? Maybe something to eat?" Alex asked.

" No thank you" Addison replied.

After he was done ordering they sat at a table near the window.

Alex Miller looked at Addison wondering what the hell possessed him to ask her out like that. He wasn't that guy. He couldn't remember the last time he took a girl out on a date. Maybe It was impulsive. Or maybe it wasn't. There was something about Addison which intrigued him. He couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was but it was there. He wanted to get to know her better.

" So Addison, may I ask why I always catch you staring at classroom doors like that?"

"Uhh I ..."

Alex laughed." You don't have to answer that. I was just messing with you."

" How is your brother?" Addison really wanted to change the topic.

" Sam? Yeah he's doing much better now. He even insisted that he deserved a movie night for recovering so quickly."

" Movie night?"

" Yeah. It's a thing we have. Whenever one of us gets sick, the other has to gift them with a movie night party to welcome their recovery." Alex couldn't stop himself. Sam's temperature was normal when he checked it today morning and he was beyond elated. He had been so scared.

He is such a good brother Addison thought. His parents must be so proud of him. Not a lot of teenage boys openly express their love for their siblings.

" That sounds like so much fun."

" Not really, no." Alex replied.

" What? Why?"

" Well, mainly because Sam is such a movie buff that he doesn't want to discuss the stupidity of some things happening in the movie. He slaps me in the head every time I speak in the middle of a movie."

Addison was appalled. " He has every right to do so. Who talks in the middle of a movie?"

" Well, cars flying between Dubai building isn't exactly realistic. You gotta have to comment on the stupidity."

" Alex Miller. You just did not insult Fast and Furious. Take it back!"

" I'm not. "

" Yes you are. "

" Nope."

And they went on talking like that.

Addison was a guarded person but Alex's easy personality made her talk to him like to nobody else before.

On a splendid Tuesday morning, two lost souls who had not yet realised just how broken they are, found the beginning of a beautiful relationship. But will it still be light and easy when everything they avoided for so long catches up with them?

Only time will tell .
