They would always split into two teams, Amara and her dad James, on one team, while her mother Rachel and her two younger sisters, Emily and Sophia on the other team.
Amara ran after the ball, but her mother was faster, Her mother, Rachel, got to the ball before her and threw the ball to Amara's younger sisters.
Emily and Sophia, who screamed happily.
"Touch down!" Rachel yelled happily, as Emily and Sophia carried the ball past the finish line.
They all crumbled to the ground, laughing and breathing heavily.
"That's four for us and two for you!" Emily yelled laughing.
"Na na na na, you all are losers." Sophia sang laughing.
Amara's father, James Becker, collapsed on a nearby bench, breathing heavily and watching his family with a warm satisfied smile on his face.
Amara collapsed beside her dad on the bench.
The bench squeaking under their weight.
"Come on dad, stop letting them win so easy." She said smiling and breathing heavily.
James looked over at her.
"I'm really not.. I'm also trying my hardest." He said smiling.
"You both suck!" Rachel shouted, laughing, Amara's younger sister joined her laughing.
"Come on, let's play one last game." Rachel said, throwing the ball towards Amara.
James smiled as he slowly sat up.
"Amara so how was college life? Did you make new friends?" He asked.
"It was fine, Dad," Amara replied, catching the ball her mother threw to her.
"Just fine?" Rachel asked, raising an eyebrow as she joined their conversation.
Amara looked over at her mother smiling.
"Yes it's just fine mom." She said.
"What do you want to hear, Mom? It's amazing? Life-changing?" She asked, throwing the ball back to her mom.
Rachel smiled, as she caught the ball.
"Well, yes, something like that." She replied, throwing the ball to Emily, who threw it back to Amara.
Amara grinned, as she caught the ball, this time holding it to her chest.
"Okay, it was amazing. I'm learning so much, meeting new people and the people there are all great to me.." She said, walking back towards the bench.
She didn't really like talking about school.
Being born into the Becker family, wasn't like how other people imagined, people saw her as the spoilt daughter of some German family.
But that was not true at all.
Her family was one of the most ancient German families, her family's root could be traced to one of the first founding families of new day Berlin, but that was not the weirdest part of it, the weirdest part happened on the midnight of her sixteenth birthday.
Before then, she noticed that every night of a full moon, her parents always went on some private date, but she never really took it into consideration, because her mom loved stargazing, so she just thought, that was what it was all about, it wasn't until her sixteenth birthday before her whole life changed.
On the night of her sixteenth birthday, her parents had carried her along with them on their special date night, and left her sisters in the hands of their maid.
She had been so happy to follow her parents, but she noticed that her parents were being withdrawn and overly gentle and positive with her, it was like they were scared to tell her something.
She had begun to fear that they were going to divorce.
That night, she lay in bed all night, chatting and messaging her best friend Claire, informing her about the whole trip.
The clock ticked on twelve a.m, and she got down from her bed to brush and go back to bed, but as she picked up the tooth brush, she noticed something was wrong, her face was burning up.
She immediately rushed to the mirror, as she did, she noticed her eyes looked very yellow, and her skin looked pale.
She had shouted for her mom and dad, telling them that she was feeling sick, but no one answered, right then and there, she felt a sharp pain in her elbow, one that made her scream out loud, it felt like her elbow had dislocated, she fell to the floor screaming as she looked at her dislocated elbow, in confusion and fear.
Just then, right in her eyes, her elbow popped back in an awful position, before she could scream, her second elbow dislocated, and then her ankle dislocated, and then her waist bone, her neck bone, her shoulder bone, her skin started to fall off, huge hairy furs bursting out.
It had been like hell.
She had never felt anything like it before, the pain was impossible to comprehend.
She felt like she was going to die.
It continued for almost an hour, everything in her room, ruined and torn apart, as she tore everything in her way while screaming in pain, it continued until she passed out.
The next morning when she woke up, she was in a different room, her parents with her, they were all looking down at her with tears.
She could remember slowly sitting up, thinking about everything that happened to her, it felt like a dream, a really realistic dream, she looked at her father and from the look on his face, she could tell that it wasn't a dream.
It had all happened.
Her father had sat her down, and began to explain their families history for her.
He told her that his family, and every other ancient family in Berlin were all werewolves and that what happened to her, happened to everyone of them on the night they turned sixteen, on the night they finally transitioned into a full half man, half wolf.
She had been terrified but her mother had calmed her down, and explained that, she would never have to worry about that, that she would only become a wolf on full moons if she takes in human blood, but since she hasn't taken in any human blood, she would never have to worry about this night occurring again in her life.
Amara could remember being terrified by the thought that her parents who she had known all her life, were half humans, half wolves, that explained why they always went on their so called private dates every full moon, and why they both looked so young.
Amara could remember asking her dad why he and her mother still turned to wolves every full moon, did they ever take in human blood?
Her father had explained to her that, he and his mother had grown up with the blue shades pack on the west side of Berlin, and they had done some things that they weren't proud of, but when her mother gave birth to her, they didn't want that kind of life for her, so they abandoned the pack and everything the pack had to entail, and they became rogue wolves.
Ever since that night, her life had changed, she understood why her parents had homeschooled them for a majority of their childhood, but now that she had fully transitioned, her father suggested she could finally have a life of her own, and he had allowed her go to college.
College was far from what Amara expected, but since she was still in her first year, she wanted to still give college life a little time.
Just then, Emily, her ten years old sister ran up to her, disturbing her thinking.
"Amara! Amara! tell us about your roommates! What are they like?!" Emily asked as she dragged her by her arm.
Amara smiled as she knelt beside Emily.
"I don't really have many roommates, but let's see...there's Mia, she's a Muslim from New York, and there's also Rachel – no, not Mom, just mom's namesake– Rachel is from New Jersey, her father is a farmer, he takes care of animals."
Sophia and Emily both looked so amazed to hear that.
"Have you ever seen the animals, up close? What are the animals like? Did you see a lion? What of a tiger? I heard they are lion's wife." Emily said, smiling happily.
"No they are not!" Sophia argued.
"Tigers are cat daddies, not lion's wife." She argued.
"They are lion's wife." Emily argued.
"They are not!" Sophia argued back.
"They are!"
"They are not!"
"They are!"
They are not!"
Both girls looked at each other angrily.
Amara laughed as she pulled them together.
"Come on, stop arguing, I will tell you all about my roommates." She said.
Emily smiled again she turned back to Amara.
"What are they like? Are they nice?" She asked.
Amara nodded.
"Yes they are nice, they are awesome. We have so much fun together." She replied.
James smiled, as she slowly stood up from the bench, stretching his body.
"I can see you are enjoying your college life." He said smiling.
"I'm happy for you." He added.
Rachel walked over to James, slipping her hand into his, a smile on her face.
"We all miss you, though," She said smiling.
Amara turned to face her, a soft smile on her face.
"I miss you guys too. But I'm also just a phone call away." She said.
James smiled.
"I even have a business meeting around your school area a few weeks from now." He said.
"Maybe anytime I'm around, I would stop by your school and take you and your friends out?" He said.
"Or what do you thing about that?" He asked.
Amara's face lit up immediately,
"That would be awesome dad! they would be so happy!" She said smiling.
Just then, the main doors to the backyard flew open, and Nancy walked in, she was the head maid of the Becker family mansion.
Nancy hurried over to the garden, her hands in front of her, her hair packed in a tight bun at the top of her head.
"Ma, sir, Dinner is ready, and the table is set" She announced.
Rachel smiled.
"What did you prepare?" She asked smiling.
"I prepared the Sunday special, just as you requested, madam Becker." Nancy replied.
The whole family immediately stood up, brushing off grass from their bodies, and straightening their clothes.
Amara, paused, taking a few steps back.
"Can't we keep dinner for breakfast instead guys?" She said, pouting a little.
"I was thinking we could, you know eat out tonight," She suggested.
Her mother and father shared a look, both of smiling.
"Looks like someone's craving something special." Her father said.
"What do you guys think?" He asked turning to her mom, and her two younger sisters.
The twins were already jumping up and down with excitement.
James eyes travelled round the family, his eyes shiny.
"Okay let's have a vote, who wants to eat out? Raise your hands."
Emily and Sophia, Amara's younger sisters, eagerly raised their hands.
"Okay so that is three votes." He said smiling.
"Who wants to eat Nancy's Friday special?" He asked, and Rachel and Nancy's hands went up immediately.
James chucked.
"Seems like the kids are winning." He said chuckling.
Rachel shook her head.
"No, what about you? Don't you want to eat Nancy's Friday special?" She asked.
James chuckled.
"I don't know, I think maybe we should loosen the rules today and eat out today." He said smiling.
Rachel rolled her eyes feeling betrayed.
"Okay..okay.." she said, accepting defeat.
"I'm down for something new, where are we going tonight?"
James jumped a little happy.
"So we have everyone's vote to eat out!" He said laughing.
He looked over at Nancy.
"Please Nancy, don't take it personally, you can help us keep the meals for tomorrow." He said smiling, he immediately turned back to his family.
"Let's get ready, everyone! There's this new restaurant in town I've been wanting to try, but I've been so busy, we are going there tonight." He announced.
The whole family immediately all hurried to their individual rooms, happily to get ready for the night out.
