SASHA
"My girl, You're freaking hot! Damn! You have everything you yearn for, how did you get this lucky?" Emily asked while entering the car and shutting the door. My brows furrowed in confusion as I wondered where that was came from.
"Don't tell me you haven't heard what Daddy did this time." She went on, ignoring the fact that I was confused.
"I'm the only person to call him that, What has he done?" I asked keenly and watched her nod. Emily was so dramatic; I wouldn't be shocked if she made those gestures for something that couldn't hold water.
"You are the new CEO, girlie! Check this out... Check." She reached out for her phone and scrolled up before giving it to me to see what she was talking about.
The news was everywhere already and how it went circulated without my knowledge got me thinking, So much had happened online in just a few hours while I was carried away with my shopping spree at my favorite boutique.
"The latest CEO in town! Don't tell me you are not happy."Emily said, tapping my thighs and looking into my face for the answer she sought.
"Wow" I shrugged apathetically and grinned from ear to ear. The news came as a surprise, not because I wasn't deserving of the position of a CEO but it was dozzy at that point. Why would Daddy want me to occupy the position of a CEO when they were more competent hands in the company? They were capable people like Mr. McRenold and Mrs. Smith. Even Emily, my friend who had worked in the company for 5 years as the head of marketing without a promotion, seemed more deserving. I had just met Daddy only eight months ago, and without flinching, he made the manager and now, CEO - It just didn't sit right with me.
"I'm so happy." I cooed, grinning harder. It was so obvious that I wore a fake smile but that didn't matter to Emily. I watched her dance rhythmically to the song from the radio in my car while I drove and nodded for the fact that she was happier than I was.
Daddy and I met in the most incredible manner. I had gone to relax at a club on a Friday night where I caught him dancing with an infectious energy that locked up his age as someone in his Sixties. Approaching him with a drink, I complimented his impressive dance moves and from there, Daddy didn't seize any opportunity to spoil me rotten with the good things of life. He lavished me with luxurious vacations, exotic trips and the most expensive things you could ever think of- He literally made life so easy for me.
Nonetheless, I was uneasy about him making me CEO so quickly. It was quite abrupt and he was sure to raise brows.
Emily was right. I had everything at my beck and call which meant that I was actually lucky.
I wasn't born into wealth, In fact, my parents died when I was 16, leaving me to fast the harsh reality life threw at me.
Hence, I never missed a day without thanking fate for bringing Daddy and I together. He brought the kind of life I looked forward to living, faster than I expected and the fact that he was older didn't matter - Who wouldn't love someone who made life easy for her? Certainly nobody!
I hadn't walked to the entrance of our mansion when I noticed rose petals trailing from the car park to the house entrance. As I walked slowly, I watched the petals as if I was counting every one of them until I reached the sitting room. The flickering lights and the delectable smell of the nicely cooked food that welcomed me made me grin - "Daddy was at it again!"
"You old man, you always baffle me." I said playfully, swinging into his arms and running my fingers through his grey hair while he wrapped his hands around my waist. "What are we celebrating today?" I asked after planting a fast kiss on his lips.
"Emily didn't tell you?" He asked with a questionable look.
"Oh! That..." I released myself from his arms and walked to the dining table to savour the food that had the delectable aroma which welcomed me home.
"You know I don't deserve that position yet..." I asked while dishing out the meal.
"Why? You are my woman and you are worthy of everything good. My retirement was a month ago, so I thought taking this decision would be best for the company and our family." Daddy spoke while I chuckled. For some reason, he was right. I was going to be his wife soon and someone in the family had to fill that vacuum.
"And your son?" My brows raised alongside my eyes that met with his, then he walked to the table, sat close and held my hands.
"I told you my son would always trash the idea of managing his father's company. He has a clothing brand in Texas and he's so apathetic when it comes to matters like this. He isn't even active on any social media platform... So introverted." Daddy spoke and I coughed. It felt like his last statement gave me some sort of relief. At least, I could sleep peacefully knowing that I was the rightful owner of that position and I wasn't taking it from someone else.
"Ooh.. Nice..." I replied with a soft tone. "Speaking of your son... You have deliberately refused to show me a picture of him, I don't even know what he looks like... I mean, it's quite odd, you should let him come home to see his step mum to be." I said huffily.
"Williams hasn't been home for ten years. He claims to be busy with work and the rest, but... he'll be home tomorrow."
The news made me spit out the drink that was already on my lips.
"You're teasing me, right?" I asked, dabbing my wet dress with a napkin.
"No, I wanted to surprise you but... it had to come out this way." Daddy grinned.
"Oh my goodness! So I'd be setting my eyes on Mr. Julius's son tomorrow?" I couldn't contain my excitement as I embraced Daddy tightly. It was the best news ever, getting to meet my man's son was something I had looked forward to and it was already here. I felt ecstasy and butterflies that made my stomach rumble.
I didn't hesitate to ask Daddy about his son's favorite meal and colour. At 6.am sharp the next day, I was up, decorating the living room and his bedroom with some 'WELCOME HOME' touches.
"I have to impress him." I thought as I cleaned and cooked with excitement in the kitchen.
"We are home!" Daddy exclaimed from the sitting room, his voice filled with excitement. I hastily grabbed the tray with my heart skipping a bit while I hoped to make a good impression. I had carefully set the table with fine plates and cutlery and with my face beaming with a bright smile, I walked out to greet them, praying that Daddy's son would like me instantly.
"Baby, what's wrong? Daddy asked immediately the tray slipped from my hands and shattered on the floor.
I stood frozen with my mouth agape, as if I had seen a ghost. And then, it struck me -Daddy's son was Williams, my ex! Was I dreaming?
