Chapter 1 Blood And Moon Light

The night the moon bled, everything Aria Moonwell loved burned.

Flames licked the treetops of the Silverpine Forest, once the pride of her pack, now a blazing ruin that smelled of smoke and death. The air was thick with the iron tang of blood and the echo of dying howls. Every spark that drifted skyward felt like a piece of her heart being torn away.

"Aria!" her brother Kael's voice cut through the chaos. "Stay behind me!"

She ignored him. Her claws extended, and her fangs itched to tear into flesh. The vampires were everywhere dark shapes darting between the trees, their crimson eyes glowing like scattered embers.

Aria lunged at one, driving her silver dagger through his chest. He hissed and dissolved into ash. Another came from behind, but she spun, slicing his throat in one fluid motion. For a moment, she felt the savage rhythm of battlethe thrum of power in her veins, the fire of vengeance blazing in her heart. But the rhythm broke when she saw the elders fall. The strongest of her kind, brought down like prey. It wasn't a warit was a slaughter.Kael grabbed her arm. "We have to retreat!"Her eyes flared. "Retreat? They killed Mother! They killed-"

"I know!" His voice cracked. "But if you die too, who will lead what's left of us?"Her throat tightened. Around them, wolves shifted and fled through the trees, dragging the wounded, howling their grief. The vampires didn't chase; they didn't need to. They had already won.Aria turned back toward the battlefield one last time and that's when she saw him.A figure standing untouched by flame or ash, his black cloak flowing like shadow itself. His presence froze the world around her. The vampires bowed as he passed, parting the sea of chaos. His eyes deep crimson, sharp as blades locked on hers through the smoke. The world narrowed to that gaze.

She felt it not fear, not hate, but something deeper. Dangerous. He tilted his head slightly, as though curious that she was still alive. Then, without a word, he vanished into the burning mist, leaving her trembling between rage and something she couldn't name.Kael yanked her toward the woods. "Now!"

They ran through the ashes, their feet pounding against the cracked earth. Behind them, the Moonwell lands burned to nothing but memory. As they reached the forest's edge, Aria looked back one final time.

The moon hung above the smoke no longer silver, but a deep, bleeding red.She whispered a vow to the dying night:

> "By the next blood moon, I will find him.

And I will make him pay."

But fate, cruel and relentless, was already laughing.

Because the boy she swore to kill the vampire prince with the crimson eyes

was the same one destined to love her.
