Title: Beneath the Suit
Chapter 1: The Interview
It was the third interview that week, and Aria Bennett was losing hope. The economy had tightened, and landing a job-even with her dual degrees-was like threading a needle in the dark. Still, she smoothed down her navy skirt, straightened her résumé, and walked into the steel-and-glass fortress that was Knight Enterprises.
The lobby was minimalist and intimidating, with marble floors that echoed every step and a receptionist who looked like she'd stepped out of a fashion magazine. But Aria kept her head high. She'd faced worse.
"Mr. Knight will see you now," the receptionist said, eyes narrowing as if daring Aria to prove she belonged.
Up on the 32nd floor, she walked into a sunlit office that overlooked half the city. And behind the sleek mahogany desk sat him-Damian Knight. CEO, billionaire, and reportedly impossible to work for.
He didn't stand. Didn't smile. Just lifted one brow and looked her over like she was a product he hadn't ordered.
"You're five minutes early," he said.
"I thought punctuality was appreciated," she replied.
He tapped a pen once, sharply. "I appreciate efficiency. Not desperation."
Aria's jaw clenched. "I'm not desperate. I'm qualified."
A slow, dangerous smirk curved his lips. "We'll see."
That was the beginning. Of the worst-and maybe best-decision of her life.
