Chapter 3 The Compromised

Karl nod in reply to Jane. "It is your dad's company. As you don't want to cooperate with me, I have to take legal actions don't I?". His voice sounded cold like a dictator who doesn't have any emotions or feelings at all.

"Legal actions....But you are trying to make it bankrupt. How's this fair?" she yelled, glaring at him.

He glanced over at her hand, she was holding onto his sleeves. He grabbed onto her wrists and raised them in the air. "I can do whatever I want to. Do you still not want to cooperate with me? I can still think this matter for a while you know? There's still time for the company to be saved. Unless you want to.....

Jane felt as if her whole world was crumbling down before her eyes. Getting married on a contract like this was not what she had expected her married life to be. She didn't expect to marry a guy who's using cheap methods to marry her.

"So, What's your answer? Let your dad's company go bankrupt and you and your family end up on the streets with 'no' or Marry me, and become my wife, which will come in with many advantages and money, with you and your family's future all settled with a 'yes, the choice is yours to make." He removes her hands right away, taking a step back. Whenever she thought about her plans, she became confused about why she had to face a situation like this. Her thoughts crashed and came to a halt, leaving her empty-headed. Finding no way out, she made up her decision.

"Hurry up, I don't have all day for this only.

Give me yes or no, make up your mind."

She straightens her head, and fixed her position, raising her eyes at him, she replied,

"Yes, I'll agree to your conditions and marry you. Is that alright with you?".

A playful smile appeared on his lips, as he moved closer to her side. "Now that's what I wanted to hear. I hope you always act like a good girl and do as I tell you to." "Your dad and dad's company is safer than the security in my house. Be assured. I hope you'll give them the good news with your mouth."

"W-when......when's the wedding going to take place?" she stuttered not able to meet with his eyes.

"Hmm....let's see..." He took a small part of her hair and was twirling it around with his finger.

"How about..." He sniffed onto her hair, taking in the scent of her shampoo which she did on the way before coming to this date. Her heart skipped a beat when he was so close to her.

"Tomorrow? It's a good day. I think it's one of the best days to be able to begin our life as a married couple. I'll make the arrangements by today, and send the invitation to your house. Make sure to arrive at the venue in time, after that the make-up artists and stylists will dress you up nicely. Send in your measurements to me by the evening. The wedding will be between me and your family, so no need to be nervous, okay?". "The contract will be signed after the wedding when no one will be present, I'll make sure your parents don't find out about it also.

How does that sound?". She was becoming surprised minute by minute by hearing the plans that he made. It left her astonished.

"Hey," Do you like it?".

She looked away whenever their eyes would meet. "Do as you like. I have nothing to sayabout it. Go ahead."

"Great then. You can return now, I'll call you when I need to ask you something. I have to leave as there are a lot of things I have left to do. So, goodbye, for now, miss Bride to be," he said with a wink before walking out of there in a hurry, leaving Jane all speechless. She leaned onto the chair for support when the realization hits her.

"This is.....not false right? All of this that's happening with me, is the truth isn't it? None of it is a lie. I agreed to marry a stranger on contract, how could I do this?". "How will I give this information to my parents that I was blackmailed for this? I'll have to lie to them, won't I?". And that's how the evening came. After reaching home she explained everything to

her parents. They were quite shocked but were much happy to hear about her decision.

When they got to know who he was, they were speechless. The invitation card came during the night and one butler came to invite them in person also. That night, after dinner, Jane was lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling in her room, not able to rest her eyes nor fall asleep out of nervousness. Not everything was going the way she wanted it to go. But reality can't be denied. Even without her will, she has to get married to a stranger whom she used to date on WeChat "Never did I think, that a day like this will

eventually come. Guess, everything is for a greater deed." Before she fell asleep, Karl called her up.

"Hello," she said picking up his call.

"You are still up? It's half-past twelve you know? Anyway." "Send me the measurements, the designer will make the gown based on that, and I'll send you some pictures of designs, go through them, and pick out your favorite."

"Ah...sure."

"Anything else?".

"Your finger measurement for the ring, send that as well!"

"Noted."

"And go to sleep on time, or there will be dark bags under your eyes, which will waste your look. Goodnight and good luck for tomorrow."

"We'll post on WeChat with our married pictures, look forward to them." He ends the call without letting her say anything.

"Hey, he hung up on me? Great. "He only does whatever he likes, doesn't he?". She pulled the covers and went to sleep after sending him the measurements.

The next morning came, Jane's alarm clock rang off for half an hour but, she wasn't getting up at all. Her mom had been calling her for hours but that didn't help her at all. It was at that time, her phone started ringing. It had been ringing for several minutes, and it irritated her so much, that her peaceful sleep had been ruined which made her wake up on her own. She didn't check the number on the phone and picked up the phone.

"Hello, is miss Jane available to chat up? I have something important to say to her," Karl changed his voice a little while saying that.

"Uh... Jane is me. What business do you have with me?" she asked groaning in her sleep.

"Oh, great then. Miss bride-to-be, your groom is waiting for you. Good morning, and get ready within ten minutes you are late! I am sending the car." He hung up on her right away. Her eyes were wide open hearing the word bride to be.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about it myself but, today's my marriage. I have to get up." "Jane dear, wake up. It's morning already," called her mom from downstairs.

"Yeah, coming."

"I'll be a bride from today. I should keep that in mind all the time." Within half an hour the car arrived and they got inside it and the driver started driving. Before leaving, Jane glanced over at their house from outside, as she won't be staying there for a while after today.
