Chapter 3 Dana Leaves

Eira's POV

After scaring my ex-boyfriend and his new girl, life got quite a bit better. This was because I didn't let the promises he made out of fear pass me by.

According to him, he had gotten a new job that was paying well. I made him transfer two hundred thousand dollars to the hospital's account, which meant they wouldn't bug me again for sometime.

I might look wicked, but believe me I am not. I was the gentlest person I know, and people seem to always take that for granted. Take a look at Jason for example, and look where it all landed us.

Since I paid that amount to the hospital, I didn't need to work twice as hard as before again. I had rest for about a few months, before the bugging would continue.

There was also enough time fore to visit Mrs Brown, and to study for my exams as well. When I got into the teaching college, I'll still continue working to pay the hospital. I had a savings account, where I deposited little amounts occasionally for going to college.

Things were finally going to get better, and I would leave this town. I would also take Mrs Brown with me, if the situation was convenient.

Today was a good day, so I got to the flower shop earlier than usual. I sold flowers to each customers with a smile. And it was even much better than Jenkins didn't come today.

It was past the time that Dana and I usually arrived at work, but she wasn't here yet. I wondered what was keeping her so long. I was a bit free, so fished out my phone to call her. But at that moment, she walked into the flower shop.

"Hey!" I waved at her.

"So sorry I came late, I had to go arrange Rina's things. We'd be leaving today." She said, but it seemed I had missed the "we" part.

"Nm. The hospital is planning on taking her outside the country?"

"Yeah, for treatment. They have good facilities over here, but Jenkins insisted that we take her to London. He has a very good doctor friend there." She said so easily.

Wait, what? Did I here right?

"What do you mean Jenkins? What has he got to do with all these apart from paying for her dialysis?" I was confused, and scared.

"I'm sorry Eira. Things just escalated, and I...I am with Jenkins now." She bowed.

I didn't know what to say, but I was definitely angry. My anger was not directed to her as she did nothing wrong. I guess I didn't expect her to be with someone like Jenkins, but life happens.

But she was leaving me.

"So, when is Rina leaving?

"We'll be leaving, today. All three of us." Her voice was low, "I'm sorry. I don't want to, but this is the only way."

"But there's a good part." Her eyes brightened, "Jenkins said you could come with us, if you want."

Nothing was funny, but I couldn't help but laugh. Dana was naive. Jenkins wouldn't change, he would still continue his shit.

"Eira?" Dana called out worriedly.

"Thanks, but no."

"Come on Eira. If you come with us, everything will be over. Jenkins would pay off your debt. And we'll get to love the life we've always wanted." Her eyes held desperation.

"Your car is here. I'll see you off, to see Rina once more." I said, my voice cold.

We both entered the car in silence, and the atmosphere was solemn. My boss has no problem with leaving, Jenkins must have paid him.

After some minutes, we got to the airport. Jenkins was already there with his guards, alongside a bubbly Rina and their luggage.

My heart warmed on seeing Rina, she looked more healthier and didn't seem to be in pain like before. Now I fully understand why Dana was doing all this.

"Eira I-"

I engulfed her in a hug, and she broke down.

"I'm so sorry."

"Shh. You don't have to be, you did nothing wrong. I should be the one apologising." I stroked her hair softly.

After I was sure that she was stable, we walked towards where the wicked geezer stood with a wide grin.

"Oh, my dear Eira! It's good to see you, I guess my lovely Dana has explained everything to you. You're going with us." Jenkins beamed.

I ignored him, facing Rina.

"Hi Rina, you look sooo pretty." I ruffled her hair.

"Just like you! Dana says I look so much like you." She giggled.

My heart warmed. I was happy that she was finally going to be saved despite the circumstances, she didn't have to die.

"Eira, are you coming with us? Say yes! Say yes!" She hopped.

"Uh, no. I wish too, but I've got lots of things to do. But I'll come visiting sometime." I assured her, but who was I kidding?

I spent some time with the before the private jet arrived. And throughout my stay, Jenkins kept on looking at me. Once a scum, forever one.

***

(Three months later)

Dana and I spoke from time to time. Rina's operation had gone successful, and she was attending a proper school in London. Jenkins had decided that they stay there and live together as a family. This was very surprising to me.

He even got engaged to her, and it wasn't a small party. At this point, I didn't understand his intentions again. If he was truly genuine, or he had other things in mind.

Yes, he was scum. But deep down, I couldn't help but be thankful that he changed Dana's life for the better. I hoped, and prayed that things would remain that way.

I was done for today's work, and the only thoughts on my head was to have a nice bath, eat and probably watch a movie.

On getting to the house, I noticed the lights were on. I must have forgotten to switch them off. I sighed as I fished out my key, inserting it into the lock and opening the door.

The stench of fresh blood hit my nose as soon as I made my way in. The scene I met madey knees weak.

Mrs.Brown was tied to a chair in the sitting room, all battered up. The men from the hospital, about four made themselves comfortable in my house.
