Chapter 4 THE SASSY REWANI

Very early on a Thursday morning, Rewani woke up to carry out her house chores. It was the day of the interview and she needed to get ready for that as well. The interview was scheduled for 8 AM. After being done with the chores, and having her bath. She put on her favourite Red jumpsuit dress and was set to go. She received her mother's blessings and some cash which would serve as the transportation fare. As she stepped out of the house, it came to her memory that she had forgot to put on her necklace.

The necklace was given to her by her mom and she perceived it to be a good luck charm so she wore it everywhere she went. Quickly, she went to the exact spot in their wardrobe to get it.

Locating the venue for the interview what somewhat a strenuous task. She had to ask passers-by how to reach the exact venue after dropping from the train. Finally she reached the venue just in time with alot of her peers already there waiting to be interviewed. They all sat at the lobby, waiting for their turn to be interviewed. As each person entered the office, Rewani' heart raced. She could withstand any more rejection!!! The faces of those that had been interviewed left so much to be desired. Their disconsolate faces increased her anxiety but she still believed hers was gonna turn out good. More and more people tropped in as she patiently waited for her turn to be interviewed.

Finally it was turn to be interviewed after almost two hours of waiting. She was visibly tired but summoned inner strength to stand on her feet. She also adjusted her red jumpsuit as she approached the office inorder to look prim and proper. When she enter, no-one was there, so she sat on a rolling chair there and admired how aesthetically pleasing the office was. It was fully air-conditioned with good looking furniture decorated in it. To her, it's like heaven on earth!! Suddenly, a short looking man with thick beards came out from the rest room. It was Mr Chike. He recently just opened another Alfredo Mart in Ogun State and needed workers there.

Good morning Sir, she greeted. Mr Chike replied. He also introduced himself and the interview began swiftly. He noticed her pretty face and endowment but maintained professionalism all throughout the process. Looking at her qualifications and work experience, she stood no chance but he decided to give her a chance after seeing the desperation on her face. He went more personal. After she had narrated about her life, family and the several ordeals faced, he was convinced more than ever to grant her the job. He also knew his meagre salary would be easily accepted. Mr Chike was a stingy man and all his staff knew this. He happily told her she'd gain an employment in his firm. Immediately she screamed!!! She didn't believe what was just said. It's surreal!!! Out of excitement, she almost ran out of the office, but he called her back to take the appointment letter. He also gave her the information as regards the exact Alfredo Mart where she'd be working.

"Rewani, Rewani!!! Wake up!! Break time is over. It's time you returned to your post," A colleague of hers said. It was then it fully dawned on Rewani that she spent the break period dreaming about how she got a job at Alfredo Mart. She's very livid. She's already tired of her job at Alfredo Mart. The pay was pathetic and the workload - Gigantic!! Her dream was unsurprising because she yearned for another job and a better paying one.
