Good afternoon Ma, Rewani greeted. "How are you and is your mother doing?" Mrs Etomi asked in her famous husky voice. " My mother and I are fine," she replied. Mrs Etomi knew all wasn't alright, she sounded very downbeat and her facial expressions were cold. "Something is wrong my dear, your mannerism suggests so," she said. Rewani didn't want to bore her with the ordeals she's been facing as regards her job hunt, so she insisted being fine. "I'm your mother's best friend, you can always confide in me," she persisted. Rewani suffered from paranoia hence, a Lone Ranger.
She always wanted to sort out her issues all by herself. It was a trait that had pros and cons she was fully aware of.
Mrs Etomi was one person Rewani could trust. Her bosom relationship with her mother alongside the compassionate traits she always exhibited, made it easy opening up. "I lied, I've a problem," she said. I'm all ears, please speak!!! she opined. "I'm into my third month of searching for a job but all my efforts have proven futile, it seems the odds are against me." She said. "Oh!! I'm so sorry for your misfortune, I believe there'd be a silver lining." Mrs Etomi assured. Quickly, her mind cast to a conversation her husband was recently having with one of his friends where he needed some staff to work at his new establishment.
Excitedly, she relayed that information and also promised to get make more enquiries from her husband when she got home. Immediately, Rewani face lit up. A large smile was seen on her ever pretty face. She proceeded into thanking her for the update and also showing concerns towards her predicament. Mrs Etomi then hugged and re-assured her that everything would soon fall in place. She wanted to conversate more as a garrulous nature would, but Rewani swiftly started to purchase the food items as evening approached. As usual, Mrs Etomi subdisized all the items she bought because of her funds were incomplete. Once again, she expressed her gratitude towards the generosity shown. She also wished her farewell and set out to go home.
Yemisi anxiously anticipating the return of her daughter sat just outside the cubicle they lived in. Its floor was un-cemented, making it super easy to locate with her walking stick. She also stayed there to take in fresh air. Her sense of hearing was so strong that she recognised the presence of daughter by merely listening to the footsteps. Welcome back my daughter, she said. Out of excitement, she hastily exchanged pleasantries with her mother in order to narrate the full gist she had with Mrs Etomi. After hearing the assistance Mrs Etomi offered, the joyous Yemisi put a call through but she had run of out airtime. There was no money left for anymore purchases. They both went into their cubicle so Rewani could start cooking.
Rewani loved cooking. As a matter of fact, that's her hobby and anyone who ate the meals she prepared attested to how delicious it was. Exactly 8PM, the delicacy was ready and she dished it appropriately. As they were about to eat, Yemisi phone rang. Who's calling, she inquired. Mummy, it's Mrs Etomi. Rivetingly, she answered the call. Pleasantries were exchanged and she then thanked her appropriately. Mrs Etomi told her about the availability of the job and the full details of when, where the interview would be conducted. Rewani overhead their conversation, so there wasn't any need for Yemisi to go all over it again. After she hung up, the good news made both of them just eat a little before going to bed.
