Zachary had also left to study in university to be a neurosurgeon like Adrian. The Caulfield children were very smart and excelled in their studies. Paul and Tiffany were left with Teddy. She did t want to attend university but they had to force her and she only did a short admin course. Paul had twisted a friend's arm to get her job at his law firm. He was pleased with her work and her honesty but Teddy was still very shy.
The Caulfields were hosting a dinner in their farm and had asked both their kids to attend. Adrian had refused but after hours of begging and nagging from his mother he had finally agreed. He wasn't sure either why he hated the farm. His mind had wiped off the memory of Teddy and that incident. The preparations were going well and Tiffany went to pick her and Teddy's dresses.
She knew Adrian didn't remember Teddy but she was still worried about what would happen if he saw her. Would he remember her or that incident? Tiffany knew she had to hurry to help Teddy get ready. Teddy was hers and Maggie's little girl. But honestly she was Tiffany's child and even the other workers could see how she always fussed over the little girl.
At first they thought it was because Adrian liked her and maybe because the girl was in an accident but the Caulfields treated her as their own till she was old and sent her school and brought her clothes and everything. Of course they couldn't say a word but they always suspected something was amiss about her especially how she appeared in the scene and Maggie suddenly had a 3 year old baby she had never mentioned before.
The law wasn't as harsh during the years and Tiffany could go with Teddy anywhere she wanted and they could do what ever they wanted without raising and suspicion. Tiffany had dropped her off at the salon and went to pick up their dresses and a few other things they needed for the dinner. When she came back Teddy was done and she had done as Tiffany had suggested. She had straightened her dark curls. She helped Tiffany with the bags as they walked towards the car.
"You look beautiful Teddy I can't wait to see you in your dress." Tiffany exclaimed.
"Thanks Tiff but this dinner is not about me. I can't wait to see you in your dress." Teddy got in the passenger seat and fastened her seat belt and Tiffany drove off.
The farm was buzzing with people. Paul was busy arranging the chairs and the ladies were busy cooking and some setting the tables outside. Tiffany and Teddy got there and went to arrange last minute things in the kitchen before heading upstairs to change. When they were done everything was almost done and guests were arriving. Teddy went to help in the kitchen while Tiffany and Paul welcomed guests.
Tiffany's parents arrived as well as Paul's parents . Paul had hoped Adrian was with them but only Zach came with his grandparents. The dinner was about to begin when Adrian's car pulled into the driveway. Eyes were on him as he stepped out of his car carrying flowers for his mother. He walked towards her and kissed her cheek handing her the flowers and went to take a seat.
Jennifer had seen Adrian in almost two decades she knew he wouldn't recognize her. She spotted him sitting next to Tiff and she knew suddenly it was Adrian. She stood there watching him in secret. Maggie nudged her to move and she went to help serve the food to the guests.
"Who's this beautiful young lady?" Uncle Sam asked as Teddy filled his wine glass. She smiled at him.
"That's Teddy. She's the farms little angel." Paul teased hoping to see if Adrian would react. He lifted his eyes and stared at her. He didn't want to seem weird or perverted but she was a striking beauty. Teddy. There was something familiar about the name. Did he know a Teddy. He sat there thoughtful.
"Adrian you okay?" Tiffany brought him out of his trance. He looked a bit confused.
"Yeah I'm okay Tiff." He got up. "I just need some air."
He got up and went outside. There was something familiar about the name Teddy. Teddy. Teddy. He tried to recall in his mind. He stepped out and went towards the fields. There was a large tractor in the middle of the field. Adrian froze. A tractor. He saw images of a little girl running towards the tractor shouting. Wait there was a little puppy behind the truck. She's trying to save the puppy. The truck reversed and the little ... Adrian tightly closed his eyes. What was this scene he had just seen in his mind? Is it a movie he watched before?
"Adrian what's wrong sweetie? You look like you've seen a ghost?" Tiffany had followed him outside.
"I said I'm fine Tiff. I've just .. I .. this place I haven't.. I needed some air." Adrian couldn't really explain what was happening.
"Ermm. Okay let's head back inside. It's a bit chilly out here." Tiffany suggested. She wanted Adrian to face his past but she didn't want to push him either.
"Yeah you're right. I just have a bad feeling about being here in this farm. Like something..."
They heard voices behind them and it was Paul and his father. Adrian walked towards them. Tiffany stood there watching the three men disappear. She wondered if it was a good idea to bring Adrian back. The accident had a bad impact on him. He was no longer the same cheerful little boy after he witnessed the accident. Tiffany thought if he remembered everything and met Teddy again everything would be fine.
It seemed Adrian was still blocking the whole thing. His grandparents had told them Adrian was still having those nightmares even now as an adult. Tiffany vowed to stop at nothing until her son was the same again. She knew there must be a way to help Adrian. But she wanted to take it slow. She didn't want it to be too much for him. Things might get worse.
