Chapter 4 Ambulance

Raphael POV

I gazed at handsome Jason in the garden, as he sat on his mother's lap, she smiled and fed him with an apple she had diced with a tiny knife, I didn't believe I'd be a dad to a cute handsome little boy.

Jessie opened the cake placed on a white plastic table in the garden, he blue and white cake had words boldly written on it

"Happy Birthday my handsome Jason" Birthday cake was placed on his head as he blew out the candle to make a wish

"I want to live happily ever after with my mum and dad," Jason told his parents with his tiny little voice

"How old are you now?" I asked my son

"I'm... I'm four years old now Daddy" he replied to me

"No baby, you're five years old now" Jessie replied, she felt happy to have a son, and she kissed his cheeks with so much affection, I felt a drop of tears from my eyes and I quickly wiped it off

"Dad, is it true I'm five years old today?" He asked me and blinked his tiny eyes at me, I couldn't stop laughing as he made a funny face

"Yes, my boy" I caressed his cheeks quickly, and he came down from his mother's lap and turned around excitedly

"I'm a big boy now, mummy," he told Jessie

"Yes my love" she replied to him

"And I can take care of you and Daddy" he cheerfully told her, I couldn't help but laugh at his statement, a child would still be a child, I thought to myself

He suddenly screams in pain, Jessie and I quickly stand up from the chair and run toward him, his toe bleeds, and blood oozes out from his tiny left toe, he cries out loud

"I'm sorry, my baby" Jessie cried too

"I'm so sorry you're hurt, I shouldn't have left you on your own" she added

"It isn't your fault Jessie," I told her with a concerned look on my face, one could tell Jessie loved Jason more than life itself

I carried him placed him on my shoulder, and walked away, I headed toward the house as he cried on my shoulder

"Sweetheart, let's take him to the hospital," Jessie told me

"We wouldn't be needing the hospital, it isn't that bad, I'll just give him a first aid treatment," I told her, she nodded her head in approval as she walked behind me, and I could see how scared she was

Jessie POV

I stayed the night in my son's room to watch him sleep, I couldn't sleep and it hurt me to see him in pain, it was just like yesterday when I had no child, but having him made me feel the joy of motherhood and I'm ready to risk anything to make him happy

I kissed his cheeks and watched him sleep, he looked so handsome as he slept on his King size bed, I heard a knock on the door, and it opened slowly, Raphael peeked into the room, and smiled at Jason while he slept

"Sweetheart, Jason is fast asleep, he wouldn't feel pain anymore," Raphael told me

"What if it wakes up and doesn't see me by his side, I'll cry and freak out" I retorted to Raphael

"At least sleep for a while, so you won't have a headache" Raphael replied to me, he walked into the room and pulled me up to my feet, he hugged me from behind and slowly moved me out of Jason's bedroom, and walked me toward our bedroom, he shut the door behind him

The Next Day

I walked out of the bedroom and headed toward Jason's room, he hadn't woke up yet, but he had rolled himself from the sleeping position I left him last night, I closed the door and walked quietly to the kitchen

"Good Morning ma'am" Angela greeted me

"Morning Angela" I replied to her, she was an old lady who had been our cook and housekeeper since Jason was born

"What do we have for breakfast?" I weakly asked her, and I could feel my heart, beating fast in my chest, my headache slowly increased, like I drank alcohol through the night, I tried to ignore the pain I felt, and slowly, I moved to the cabinet to bring out a mug for tea which is my everyday route in the morning.

Suddenly, my eyes went dime and I could hardly see, I held right to the mug in my hands and staggered backward, I placed my right hand on my head and held my waist with my other hand, and I felt dizzy, I tried to steady myself, I placed my back on the wall and tried to breathe in and out, but I could only feel uneasy within me

"Ma'am, are you alright?" Angela asked me, she walked towards me and held my right arm

"You should have a sit madam" I could hear her voice echoing in my head, I nodded in agreement and let her sit me down on a small wooden chair, at a yellow-painted faded dining table in the kitchen

"Place your head on the table, you'll feel better before you know it" she calmly told me

"Thanks, Angela, but I think I should go upstairs and sleep, perhaps I haven't had enough sleep" I weakly told her, I stood up from the chair and slowly walked away, she held my arm once again

"I can find my way through the stairs," I told her

"Okay ma'am" she replied to me

"Wha...t, what about the tea?" She asked me

"Bring it to my room," I told her and walked away

I heard a weird sound, and I placed my left hand on my stomach and held the metal on the staircase with my right hand, I couldn't hold the pain I felt anymore, and I crouched in pain

"Mummy, I heard his tiny voice call out to me" I slowly raised my head, and Jason stood on the stairs, he felt frightened and gazed at me

"Mummy, are you alright?" He asked me and tried to walk down the stairs towards me

"Baby, don't come down, you might fall" I screamed out to him, my strength failed me as I spoke to him

"Daddy, something bad is about to happen to Mummy" Jason cried out loud, he felt so scared as a child, and he breathed out heavily his chest

My eyes suddenly went blank, I heard the sound of footsteps running toward me and felt a familiar hand touch my arms

"Jessie" I heard Raphael's voice from a distance

"Sweetheart" Raphael called out to me once again

"Mummy, Please wake up" Jason screamed out

"Angela called an ambulance" I heard his voice from a distance as he told the maid.
