Rather would she become just another pawn in his game of power and deceit? The outcome was far from certain, as Cal found herself trapped yet again.

Ethan Claire's gaze lingered on Calister Jackson, his eyes searching for something. And then he said abruptly "I'll give you a chance, Miss Calister Jackson, that's your name right?

She nodded. And he proceeded but remember, I don't tolerate failure. You'll have to prove yourself worthy of this position."

Cal nodded, her heart racing with excitement. "I won't disappoint you, sir. I promise."

His expression softened slightly, and he gestured to a folder on his desk. "Your first task is to develop a marketing strategy for our new product launch. I want something innovative, something that will make our competitors tremble."

Cal's eyes widened as she opened the folder, her mind racing with ideas. "I'll get right on it, sir. But may I ask, what's the product?"

Mr. Claire's smile was enigmatic. "That's for me to know and you to find out. Just remember, Cal, in this company, secrets are currency. Keep them safe, and you'll be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams."

Cal's mind whirled with questions, but she knew better than to ask. into a dangerous game. Little did she know, her life was about to change forever.

"So, Cal," Mr. Claire said, his voice low and smooth. "I've heard a lot about you. You're a smart and beautiful woman, and I think we could do great things together."

Cal smiled, trying to hide her nervousness. "Thank you, Mr. Claire. I'm glad to be here."

Claire smiled back, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Please, call me Ethan. We're going to be working together closely, after all."

Cal nodded, feeling a shiver run down her spine. She didn't know what she was getting herself into, but she was willing to take the risk. For her mother's sake, she had to.

"So, Mr Claire, apologise Ethan, what exactly do you have in mind?" Cal asked, trying to sound confident.

"I have a business proposition for you, Cal," Ethan replied, leaning back in his chair. "I need someone with your skills and charm to help me with a project I'm working on. It's a high-stakes venture, but the payoff could be huge."

Cal raised an eyebrow. "What kind of project?"

Ethan smiled. "Let's just say it's a bit of a gamble. But I think you're the perfect person to take the risk with me."

Cal hesitated, unsure of what to do. She needed the money, but she didn't want to get involved in anything illegal or unethical.

"I'm not sure, Mr Claire," she said finally. "I need to know more about the project before I can make a decision."

Ethan leaned forward, his eyes glinting with intensity. "I understand your concerns, miss Jackson. But I assure you, this is a legitimate business venture. And I'm willing to pay top dollar for your services."

Cal took a deep breath, weighing her options. She could use the money to pay for her mother's medical bills, and Mr Claire seemed like a legitimate businessman. But something about him didn't add up.

"Okay, Mr Claire," she said finally. "I'm in. But I need to know more about the project before we proceed."

Ethan smiled, his face lighting up with excitement. "Excellent! I knew you were the right person for the job. Let me show you what we're working on."

He led Cal to a large conference room, where a team of people were working on a complex project. Cal's eyes widened as she saw the scope of the venture.

"This is impressive," she said, turning to Ethan. "But what exactly is the goal of this project?"

He smiled, his eyes glinting with pride. "We're developing a new technology that could change the world. And we need your help to make it happen."

Cal's eyes widened as she took in the details of the project. "This is incredible," she said, turning to Ethan. "But what's my role in all this?"

Ethan smiled. "We need someone with your skills to help us navigate the marketing and branding side of things. We're creating something revolutionary, and we need someone who can help us make it appealing to the masses."

Scarlett nodded, her mind racing with ideas. "I see. And what's the timeline for this project?"

Ethan leaned forward, his eyes intense. "We're on a tight deadline, miss Jackson. We need someone who can hit the ground running and help us launch this technology within the next six months."

Cal's eyes widened. "That's ambitious. But I'm up for the challenge."

Ethan smiled, a look of relief washing over his face. "I knew you were the right person for the job, miss Jackson. Welcome to the team."

Just then his voice cut through, get yourself ready, we'll be making a short trip tomorrow.

The next day Cal and Ethan Claire set out on their short business trip.

Calister Jackson gazed out of the window, her eyes drinking in the vibrant street scene below. The bustling streets of Manhattan were just as she remembered them - alive with energy and possibility.

"A day after you proposed, we left for Manhattan, and now, here we are," Calister said, her voice filled with wonder.

Ethan Claire smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I told you, Manhattan is where I have my other company."

As they drove through the familiar streets, Calister's heart swelled with nostalgia. "It feels like home, doesn't it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ethan's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze warm and loving. "It feels like a new beginning," he said, his voice low and husky.

Just then, Ethan's phone buzzed to life. "I'm on my way, just give us a few minutes," he said, his voice distracted.

Calister's curiosity was piqued. "Who's that?" she asked, her eyes locked onto his.

Ethan's smile was enigmatic. "That's Mr. Raymond. We have a meeting with him at the Manhattan Energy Corporation."

Cal's mind raced with questions. What did Mr. Raymond want with them? And what did Ethan's proposal have to do with the Manhattan Energy Corporation? She knew one thing for sure - her life was about to change in ways she couldn't imagine.

Calister Jackson's heart raced as Ethan Claire's car pulled up to the Manhattan Energy Corporation. Memories flooded her mind as she gazed up at the familiar building.

"Well, we're finally here," Ethan said, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Calister's smile faltered as she spotted a familiar figure standing by the conference table. Her heart skipped a beat as her eyes locked onto the cold gray eyes of Mr. Cain Hutton, the man who had ruined her life.

"Shall we?" Ethan asked, his voice breaking the spell.

Cal composed herself, her eyes never leaving Mr. Cain's face. "Let's do this," she said, her voice steady.

As they entered the conference hall, Cal's eyes scanned the room, taking in the elite gathering. Mr. Cain Hutton's gaze still lingered on her, a mixture of shock and guilt written across his face.

"Sorry for the delay," Ethan apologized, his voice carrying across the room.

Cal's eyes never left Mr. Hutton's face, her mind racing with unanswered questions. What was he doing here? And why did her heart still race at the sight of him?

The meeting dragged on, Cal's tension building as Mr. Hutton continued to avoid her gaze. But she refused to back down, her eyes locked onto his, challenging him to confront the past.

Finally, the meeting adjourned, and the room erupted into a flurry of hugs and kisses. Cal's eyes never left Mr. Hutton's face, her heart still reeling from the unexpected encounter.

"You never told us you had a beautiful fiancée," one of Ethan's friends remarked, his eyes roving over Cal's face.

Cal smiled slightly , her eyes still fixed onto Mr. Hutton's face. "There's a lot you don't know about me," she said quietly, her voice dripping with venom.

Cal's eyes was locked onto Ethan Claire's, her mind still reeling from the unexpected encounter with Cain Hutton.

"Hey, you okay?" Ethan asked, his voice low and concerned.

Cal's smile was tight, her eyes never leaving Cain's face. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Ethan's eyes flickered between her and Cain, a hint of confusion on his face. "Okay, good," he said, his voice distracted. "I need to go talk to Raymond Anderson for a minute."
