Chapter 9 Abandonment

Ellie smiled, looking like she was delighted by what Alex said.

Tristan however remained silent, only frowned and looked at Katherine.

Katherine had her head lowered and remained expressionless, feigning ignorance about what was happening.

No one chatted afterwards, they all ate their food in silence. The atmosphere was once again awkward.

Katherine felt her presence was laughable and unwanted, so she had a few mouthfuls to fulfil her hunger.

"I am done. I will go back first. I have a meeting with a partner." After saying so, Katherine stood up and prepared to leave.

"I am done too, Kate. I will drop you on my way back", Alex added and left the restaurant together with Katherine.

Tristan only frowned and looked at Katherine's departing back.

His feeling at that moment was unforeseeable.

Back in the car, Alex drove to the Flynn Group, while Katherine remained silent.

Her heart was heavy, she had indescribable feelings. The scene lovable scene of Tristan and Ellie kept replaying in her mind. The agony in her heart was making it hard for her to breathe.

Alex looked at Katherine and asked, "Are you okay? I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that."

Knowing Alex meant well, she smiled and said, "I will be fine. Don't worry about me."

"I can't help but worry about you. You know you can tell me anything, right?"

"I know", Katherine replied and smiled at Alex.

"So what are your plans next? Are you divorcing Tristan?" Alex asked seemingly worried for his friend.

"Now that grandpa is gone, it is only a matter of time before he forces me into a divorce. I might leave the city afterwards", she replied in a low voice.

"Where do you want to move to? Have you thought about it?"

"Perhaps Star Lake City."

"Okay, If you need anything know this I am here for you any time of the day", he replied immediately.

"Got it."

Throughout the years Katherine had been abandoned countless times. Her parents passed away in a car accident when she was 3 years old. Afterwards, she was taken care of by her grandmother.

A few years ago, her grandmother got sick and passed away leaving her all alone.

Due to a twist of fate, two years ago Katherine end up marrying Tristan. However, since Tristan's grandfather, Nathan Flynn was seriously ill and hospitalized, he reluctantly married her for his grandfather's sake. During these two years of marriage, Tristan did nothing but only treated her as a roommate at home and a subordinate at work. Sadly, Tristan never treated her as a family even though she was his wife, leaving her abandoned all over again.
