Chapter 8 Lunch

During the two years of marriage, Katherine and Tristan have dined together alone but never had a gathering of friends.

It is sad that they never even dined or had a gathering with their spouses' friends.

It would also be the first time their friends met one another.

Tristan drove them to the restaurant and neither of them spoke.

The atmosphere in the car was cold and awkward as always.

Fortunately, they arrived at their destination within a short period of time.

Tristan brought her to a restaurant with a homely atmosphere.

Upon entering the restaurant, Katherine saw Nick and Joey seated at a six-person table in a secluded corner.

Without thinking much Katherine sat down at a corner seat at the table. She politely greeted Nick while completely ignoring Joey.

Tristan was parking the car. So they all were waiting for Tristan before ordering.

"Tris, I have not eaten in this restaurant in a long time. You know I love the food of this restaurant."

The voice came from the door of the restaurant.

Katherine was going through the menu when raised her head and looked towards the door in reflex. She was Tristan walking over with Ellie holding his arm.

Tristan always had a gentle look whenever he was with Ellie.

One could say his gentleness and kindness are all reserved for the woman beside him rather than his wife, Katherine.

"They are a good match and look good together, don't you think so?" a gloating voice came from behind Katherine.

Being a loyal admirer of Ellie, Joey always picked on Katherine.

Turning around and looking at Joey, Katherine retorted without showing any mercy and slightly laughing, "Yes, that is why you can only cherish from a distance."

Katherine could be a sharp-tongued person, except when it comes to Tristan.

"You...", Joey tried to say but was interrupted by Ellie.

"Katherine, you are here too."

Seeing Katherine, Ellie's expression changed and she added innocently, "I was going to ask Tristan to invite you over."

As Katherine was already seated, so Ellie sat down next to her before Tristan could. Then she looked at Katherine, and asked in a sweet voice, "You don't mind me sitting beside you, do you?"

There were only 2 seats left at the table. One in front of Katherine, and another beside Ellie.

As expected, Tristan sat down beside Ellie.

For a moment all five of them were silent, and the atmosphere was very awkward.

Clearing his throat Nick said to Tristan, "We haven't ordered yet. We were waiting for you."

Soon, Alex arrived and Katherine introduced him to the remaining four people at the table.

After the introduction, Alex sat down opposite Katherine.

They all placed their order and thereafter, the four of them except Alex and Katherine started to chat.

Looking at Tristan sitting beside Ellie, Alex looked at Katherine with sympathy feeling sorry for his friend.

Alexander Pierce was one of Katherine's closest friends. They went to college together and become closest friends. Even though Alex belongs to the opposite gender, they have only been friends and maintained the purest relationship.

Luckily the waiter served their food shortly.

Of course, Tristan started tending to Ellie. He took the ladle to pour her a bowl of Tomato Soup and placed it in front of Ellie. He added, "I ordered this soup for soup. Warm yourself up by drinking it."

His consideration towards Ellie was seen by all and it was hard to ignore. The interaction between them was like stabbing a knife straight into Katherine's heart.

Alex being the straightforward person he is couldn't help but comment, "Mr. Flynn you are so considerate to Ms. Nesson. People who don't know better would believe you two are a happily married couple."
