Chapter 5 Her Secret Smile

"Hi, Rosh." Nidhi waved her hand when she saw her at the bus stop.

"Hi," she replied without her usual way.

"Yesterday what happened after I left?"

"Nothing big," Roshini replied and turned to the other side. Nidhi was taken aback to see the change in her, she didn't ask anything after that and remained silent throughout the ride to their college.

When they were walking to their class, Siddharth came before them. He was all dressed up in a dark blue shirt and black jogger pants. It is kind of tempting but Roshini got irritated to see him and walked without glancing.

Nidhi smiled secretly to see her expression, she understood there if something happened. "Roshini!" suddenly Siddharth called her name.

Nidhi grinned and looked at her. Roshini turned her gaze to him.

"I want to talk with you." He said and that surprised both of them since he never did this before.

She looked Nidhi, understanding the situation she moved out giving their privacy. Even though a part of her is so curious to know what he is going to say.

"What?" Roshini asked with a skepticism filled eyes.

Siddharth looked at her with a smile, his enchanting smile lured the girl who is in front of him. He doesn't know what exactly he is doing to that poor girl who is unable to understand this fluttering feeling. Whether to smile or to talk Roshini was confused to proceed before him. Thankfully he broke the silence.

"Umm... your friend Nidhi is she a Malayali?" He asked and Roshini was confused. Why the hell he is asking about her!

With a fear-filled expression, she nodded. Then she looked him in the anticipation of what he is going to say next. But to her surprise, his friend Gautham came out of nowhere and joined them in the talk.

"Do you know him right? He is my friend Gautham," Siddharth introduced.

"Yes," she again nodded. Of course, she knew everyone and everything around him.

"He is interested in your friend Nidhi; I mean he wants to go out with her. But before proceeding anything he wanted to know whether she is already in a relationship," Siddharth asked.

I am too having the same doubt but I think she is in love I am sure about that, Roshini thought.

Gautham looked Roshini curiously waiting for her. "I think she is in a relationship, but I am not sure about that," she said.

"What? You're not sure, you are her friend right?" Gautham frowned.

"Yeah but I don't know. If you want to ask her directly," Roshini annoyed.

Gautham sighed. He is the kind of person who always acts so superior to everyone. He is rich, selfish, and mean. These are the things that Roshini observed in him in this past year. He always spends time with people who are similar to him.

In their senior class, there is a gang, which includes Siddharth, Gautham, Ram, David, and Mohammed Ghaffar. In this Siddharth was too close to his friend Ram. He is nice to everyone but especially to him. In that gang, all are very talented and have an attitude too. Among them, Siddharth is cool and friendly around everyone. The only good thing is there are no girls in that group.

Roshini understood why he is asking about Nidhi; she can feel his pride. He can't accept rejection from a girl that is the reason for this interrogation.

"Okay, don't tell about this to anyone," saying that as a warning Gautham walked away leaving Siddharth and Roshini.

"I am sorry for that," he apologized for his friend's behavior.

"It's Okay."

"Then... there is a paper presentation occurring in the Computer Science department. Inform your friends and ask them to participate."

"Okay"

"Then..." he started. "Sorry I forgot. I will tell you later," informing this he walked to his class.

Yesterday you are talking very sweet with that Aishwarya but why not with me. Am I that unattractive! She questioned looking at his back and went to her class. She dropped the bag and sat on the seat.

"What happened, what he said?" Nidhi asked.

"Nothing just about competitions."

Roshini became very silent after that. She felt so distressed looking Nidhi. She is in love, she is telling me that I am her best friend but why she didn't tell anything about her. You are a stupid Rosh for trusting and believing her blindly

She got irritated thinking about that Gautham. Nidhi should rather be single than in a relationship with that selfish freak.

And the other part of her heart thinking about her appearance, she is becoming fat and looking so lifeless. Even she doesn't want to become good-looking all of a sudden but wanted to reduce some weight for her health.

Clear skin, a lean curvy figure, a perfect wavy hair till waist. Beautiful toes and fingers and more importantly white skin is considered as beauty.

If these are the possessions for a beautiful woman then Roshini is out of this league. She is dusky, little fat 58, she is having perfect hair but in her busy schedule it's hard to maintain it. And her toes and fingers, she inherited that from aliens, very imperfect.

But a great gift that God has given to her was an excellent brain. She is too smart. Boldness and confidence just faded away from her flaws like nothing and she is somewhat kindhearted not so sweet type but understands people and will help them in their hard time.

She never cared about her looks but while seeing other girls she can't help that thinking about hers. The things that one should never care about are the important priorities nowadays. Looks, money, and fame, leaving out kindness, and peace.

"Roshan Why are you silent?" Nidhi asked her while they are walking to the playground since after lunch break there are no classes for them so they decided to go there and stay for some time.

"Nothing," she replied in a low voice.

"Hey, something is there, what happened?"

"Nidhi can I ask you one thing?"

"Hmm, What?"

"Are you considering me as your friend?"

Nidhi was taken aback by her words. "Yes, why are you questioning that?"

"Then answer this honestly!"

"Are you in a relationship?" She blurted out without controlling her stupid mouth.

Nidhi's eyes widened in shock. This unexpected question stopped her legs. In the midway, both were looking at each other in a confusion.

Nidhi was tangled with her yes and no. "Why you are asking this?"

"Just to know,"

"Oh," Nidhi tried to escape her question but Roshini's questioning look didn't leave her alone.

"No Roshan I am not in a relationship," Nidhi lied.

"Really?" she chuckled and became so furious. She started to walk leaving her in that place and sat on the bench.

"Hey, I want to know why you're asking this all of a sudden, then only I can answer," Nidhi told.

"Leave it. I just asked you,"

"Are we fighting?"

"That is your opinion," she told like nothing affected her. But inside she felt like crying.

Unknowingly Roshini started caring more about Nidhi. She is very helpful and kind to her. They are having a lot of happy memories together. Roshini enjoyed it a lot only when Nidhi was around her. This small betrayal greatly hurts her.

Nidhi, on the other hand is confused about this. But one thing she understood was Roshini found about her secret love.

They both stayed silent. Roshini got up from her seat and went to the playground's sitting area. She felt uncomfortable sitting there with Nidhi. Within a second she can reveal everything but Nidhi was strongly in the state of denying. If she wanted to share means she would have done that, she thought and blankly looked at the ground. Siddharth entered in his sport's wear. He is carrying a bag and when the moment he catches her glimpse, Roshini instantly turned away.

When she draws her eyes back to him, he is already having a smile on his face and gazing at her only.

She smiled. After placing his bag in one of the seat he went to do his warmup.

Roshini you should change your attitude. Why people not coming to you than a certain point is that you are not allowing them by showing your attitude. You never showed interest in other people's business always cared about you, only you and your studies. You are selfish in your way. In that, you should not complain about others.

Wait and be normal with her. You have shown your selfish attitude to her a lot of times, but still, she is sticking with you as your friend. And the reason why you don't have any friends from school is this view of yours, so stop acting like a child and continue your goals. It is her choice whether to tell her relationship status to you or not. So grow up Roshini! You are having too many things to do in your life, her inner self-advised her.

'Yes, you are right!' She accepted that without opposition since it is true. She got up and again looked Siddharth. To her surprise, he smiled again while running.

Ah... please tell me some advice to eliminate this distraction she thought feeling her throbbing heart. But I love this distraction that brings this secret smile to my face... Roshini blushed and raised from her seat and went to Nidhi.
